Biorhythms

It seems that my biorhythms are changing again. It's been a long time since that happened, but it always interests me when they do. My old rhythm used to be up and in top form in the morning, followed by a lull in the afternoon, and an up-surge at night before the final descent into sleepiness and rest.

At the moment, my rhythm is difficult waking and lazy in the morning till around 11, followed by a surge that runs till around 3, then a downturn that lasts till 8, a small up-surge till 10:30 or so, and a final descent to rest and sleep around 11 pm.

What is your biorhythm? When do you work best, play best?
 
Used to be an engine at 8 in the morning til about lunch, and then in a coma til after dinner, when I revved up again until midnight.

Lately it turned on its head and I'm dead til lunch, hyper til dinner and ready for the second round of madness at around 11 PM.
 
Still a morning bear, nap after lunch, functional through dinner and then write like a champ until ten (unless I've drunk too much with dinner) and then lights out.
 
Biorhythms: sense-or non-sense?

Call them what you will, Neon dear, but we all have patterns of energy on a daily basis that remain more or less consistent. However, sometimes they do alter for whatever reasons. In any case, most of us have them. C'est tout. :cool:
 
Erratic from day to day. Sometimes it depends on what I did the day before, some days it goes against it.

I couldn't agree with you more, I don't think they can be 'measured'. They can be felt by the feeler. I wear magnetic pads in my shoes to supposedly regulate the electrical flows through my body, do they work? For me, yes... I don't have heart palpitations. For science... their use is unproven. I'd rather work with what my gut, or in this case, my heart, tells me. (Of course it does mean that I stick to manhole covers when crossing the road and risk being run over ;))

For me it's pretty easily measured by blood sugar levels.

I'm always pretty much in the process of either gaining or losing weight. Different meals during the day affects blood sugar levels differently if you're burning more energy then you're taking in, or the other way around. Both due to timing, and due to what you eat.
 
Morning time, around seven till noon for writing. Edit at two down by the pool, and then a little burst of energy comes and I workout. After that and dinner, I couldn't write if I had to. My brain is mush. Been like that since I was a little kid. Loved mornings at school, hated homework at night. Then again, what kid doesn't hate homework. ;)
 
Difficulty getting up and dragging until about 8, then fairly energetic until early afternoon, at which point no matter what I'm doing I want to lie down and take a nap. That goes on until about 5, when I get another surge of energy, and then NATURALLY I'm good from then till about midnight-1am. I have to force myself to go to bed at 10:30 most nights.

That's only been within the last year and a half or so. My biorhythms before that were dead to the world until 11am, even if I was up, and then tired till 2 or 3. Then I'd buzz around like a bee for the rest of the day, and I wouldn't get tired again until 2 or 3am.

When we were on the road I could make my rhythms be whatever I needed them to be...like in Fairbanks my body was up at 4:30am or so whether I wanted to be up or not, and ready to go work out by 6, so either doing small exercises in my room or pacing because the workout room didn't open till 8. :p Then I'd come down around noon, but not really far enough to need a nap. When Rick came back from work around 3 I'd be raring to go again and then I was dead at 7pm. Every town we were in, it was different, but when I'd come home my body would automatically go back to the rhythm it was in up until a year or so ago.
 
I am terrible in the mornings, depressed and miserable(I did find out why. I have an abnormal level of stress hormones circulating first thing) but by some horrible trick of nature it is the only time I can do my readings for university, so I have to get up. Writing wise, I am a night person. I do my best work after midnight, but that only applies to fiction. Non-fiction is a day job. Frankly I feel most alive in the twilight hours, the period the French refer to as "the blue hour".
 
Definitely a night owl. Side projects, including writing start after 10:00pm and continue until 2-3 am usually. My work lets me get up later, usually nine-ish.
