Billy Collins: US Poet Laurate

"The Art of Drowning."

The title in and of itself is perfect.

The fact that his poetry is lovely, is a bonus.

Thanks riff!

I read a poem of his last night at the bookstore. Forgot the title but it is based on a song from one of my favorite jazz albums, John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman, "You Are To Beautiful."

I wish I new how many of these I have given away to friends. It's a great CD.

This is a silly and superficial thing to say, but I just like the idea that his name is "Billy." Poet Laureate sounds like such a deadly title. I've heard him interviewed on the radio--he comes off as a pretty cool guy.

Listen to him read "Forgetfulness"

Great stuff!

Hey, we had Jimmy for a President! :)

I really like the fact that we have a poet laureate that is actually funny.

This guy is funny as hell! I heard him reading some of his poems on NPR the other day, and I was cracking up.

I know a lot of people like Maya Angelou, but she makes me gag, with that truck driver voice. bleccch.

Go Billy!

It works, I just listened to a poem on it! Might have taken a little time to load.

Just tried it. Maybe they are having problems. Should come back up soon.
