Bill to ban prescription drug ads

Just introduced in the Senate.

Why are prescription drugs advertised on television anyway? "Ask your doctor if Profitusol is right for you!" When I go to a doctor, I expect the doctor to know what drugs are right for me -- that's why he went to medical school. That's why he has a Physicians Desk Reference or its digital equivalent. Shouldn't all pharmaceutical marketing be directed at physicians, rather than the general public?

Quite often on YouTube, I see an ad for a drug that only gives its name -- nothing at all about what it does or what condition it is supposed to treat.
