ABC news has an interview with Bill Clinton. The reporter asks him about his impact on his wife's compaign. Bill Clinton responds that there were things he wished he hadn't said and things he wished he had said. Then he drops the BOMB! He, unprompted and unasked, says, "I'm not a racist." Watch the video.

Bill Clinton has both feet in his mouth and up to his ass!

You gotta see it!

Don't have to see it. I watched Bill Cinton since 1982. In my opinon he is not a rascist...he is an opportunist (p)....which is worse. In fact, he is a MAJOR reason why I changed political affiliations.

What Do You Mean 'we' White Man?

Bill discovered that he's not black, and when Toni Morrison backpedalled on her comment about Clinton being the first black president, it likely affected him.

I suspect Bill & Hillary believed the Brothers would nominate Hillary, and it didnt happen.

Bill isnt a racist, but he ran into a wall called tribe/clan.

He's still an asshole. I wish his wife woulda divorced his ass and won the nomination, I woulda voted for her for pres., and she prolly woulda won the nomination if she had divorced his ass.

Lemme see:
Who do I want to get the 3am call that there is a worldwide crisis?

McCain would prolly say "fire up the nukes."
Obama would prolly say "what would McCain do?"

Hillary would have at least asked "what is the crisis?"
(while her husband asks "is it a worldwide racial crisis?")

Bill might also say.... "Let me see that cigar trick again....."

I personally think the guy is great.... with his priorities all in the right place, but then I am prolly an asshole too.

I can only hope President Obama will do half as well with the economy as Bill did.

(And while I think I was mostly lurking "back when", I appreciate your return.... I got the distinct impression you took the Primaries phase a little hard.... but welcome back. Are you going to sit out the entire Presidentail campaign?)

I suspect Obama will chase after every problem, trying to micromanage the world.

He did some good things as president, his heart was in the right place, his cigars were in the wrong place, his credibility went out the window when he said he never had sex with that woman, and when it was proven that he lied while his wife stood by him that hurt her credibility. All that aside his priorities went out along with any respect I had for him when ex-pres Clinton said to the nation and the world "I did it because I could."

Teaching all american chilluns a good lesson.

Glad to be back, thanks. You should know by now I don't sit anything out, look forward to civil discussion when we agree or disagree.

There was a video of the ABC News interview up for a very short while. It was pulled very quickly. You had to see the interview to disbelieve it.

Bill Clinton was asked about his impact upon his wife's campaign. He replied with a non answer, saying, "There were things I wished that I had said. There were things that I wished I hadn't said." Then he blurted out, "I'm not a racist." He was never asked anything that even came close to being about racism. His comment was the rough equivalent of asking someone, "How are you?" and getting told, "I'm a woman trapped in a man's body." I mean, Bill Clinton is losing it big time.

Later in the interview, Bill Clinton was asked about the impact of 'Joe Blow' on his wife's campaign. Instead of saing that Joe Blow was a help, had not impact or was a hindrance, Clinton says, "He used to be a friend of mine." I mean, judging strictly from the one interview, Bill Clinton badly needs professional help.

Indeed.

Who the fuck cares about Bill Clinton right now?

If you had seen the actual interview, you would have undoubtedly decided that someone needs to care FOR Bill Clinton right now. I mean a large, strong man with a psychiatric nurse's training.

By the way, the thread is not for those who oppose what Bill Clinton was or those who support what Bill Clinton was. The thread is about a Bill Clinton that I hope was either drunk or on drugs. It was a pathetic performance.

In all seriousness, it is hardly outside the bounds of reality to think he may be "losing it" but I don't think this is any evidence of it.

There were times during the primary campaign, he got a little heated on some of the flack that Hillary and he both were taking from some in the Obama campaign... words were flying around.

Having committed his whole political life to standing up for and supporting the political aspirations of minorities, he was undoubtedly hurt badly when some of his less guarded remarks were construed by some in the Obama campaign as "rascist".

I have no doubt that charge hit him in the gut and he is still agonizing about it. So when the subject of things he regretted saying came up, THAT is exactly what he was thinking about. I have no doubt about it.

If you had slept through the primaries, I guess you may be excused for not remembering all that shit going on.

It is hardly the "out of left field" comment you seem to portray it as.

Nor does the rejoinder about Joe Blow seem outrageous. I think it is pretty poignant and kind of sums up his opinion of the guy.

All in all, it strikes me as a Bill Clinton remarkably unguarded.... unlike the robotic mimicking act we normally expect from "politicians".....

Is that a sign of mental illness? Hardly on the scale of Ronald Reagan's last years in the Presidency.... but even if it is... somehow...

The fact that he was the most effective President in the last 50 years... should count for something.....

Oh wait. I forgot. He is evil incarnate.

Call Ken Starr... maybe we can set him up again.....

Bill Clinton cost the Democrats Congress. He so infuriated the entire American population that they took away his majority, three times. This is an effective politican? And don't give him any credit for the booming economy during his adiministration. Never give any president credit or blame for the economy. They have little effect. If you want to give anyone credit for the '80's boom, give it to Bill Gates and all the guys who IT'd America. It was when the 'puter growth slowed that the economy slowed. Now we're waiting for the Alternative Energy Boom to start up. It won't be long . . .

Okay! How exactly was Bill Clinto the most effective President in the last 50 years? Most experts rate him with Jimmie Carter and Bush 41.

I love that...... Don't give Presidents any credit OR blame for the economy. In my lifetime, that has been repeatedly the number one issue in any Presidential campaign. It is hardly unreasonable to evaluate their Presidency on the basis on how well they did it.

Give me ANY coherent criteria for effectiveness:

Here are you a few you might agree with.

Staying out of wars.
Balancing the Budget
Reducing the Federal debt.
Reducing the size of the Federal Government
Increasing economic opportunities.
Increasing foreign sales of domestic product
minimizing inflation
increasing employment
Environmental Protection
Pissing off Republicans

The Clinton administration was far more successful at achieving these than any other President in the last 50 years.....

THAT is what I meant by “effective”. Again… what are yours?

I liked Bill. I voted for him both times. (The times were so nice back then)

I didn't vote for Bush. BOTH TIMES (Times these days... not so good)

Hmmmm...

I'm not one to argue much in politics, but if people just voted my way they'd see that I'M RIGHT. :D ;)

i saw the interview excerpt. he looked fine to me. obviously he was trying NOT to re fight the primaries, critique obama, the party's choice.

i think he was hurt that black people were not more solid for hillary. for once i agree with JBJ that "clan' took on great importance, and it surprised Bill.

"clan" on the other side is quite evident in the CNN interviews with tennesseeans in a small town, all convinced Obama is muslim and 'not like us.'

I think we've had maybe 5 effective Presidents, and I dont necessarily like or champion any of them, but I think they were effective.

1. LINCOLN. Civil rights.
2. THEODORE ROOSEVELT: Created modern America
3. FRANKLIN ROOSEVELT: Defeated the Nazis
4. LYNDON JOHNSON: Civil rights.
5. RICHARD NIXON: Ended Vietnam War and normalized relations with China.

I think a Presidents first responsibility is to reduce the tensions and conflicts that threaten peace. Or restore peace. A President should champion civil rights and liberty. A President should act to increase prosperity for everyone. And a President should act to increase the security and welfare of the people.
