I'm happy to relay that I survived today's experience, and honestly it was LESS PAINFUL THAN WAXING! :D However, in future visits the intensity is turned up so it may be more painful. I think I will go numb next time.

Also, I asked the nurse practitioner (yes, it was a nurse practitioner doing the treatment!) about leaving hair, and she said the first few visits really thin out the hair more than eliminate it, and she recommended zapping everything (which I did) and then deciding on future visits whether or not to leave some hair.

Just thought I'd pass this along for anyone else who is considering the process! I'm amazed at how quickly it went and how little (relatively speaking) it hurt! Makes me want to do my legs too... xD

And let me guess... you walked out with a huge grin and feeling very relieved? How is your recovery?

Sounds similar to my first treatment. I just had one, and I was about a day away from my starting my period, and holy hell, did that hurt! Although the aesthetician recommended a numbing cream, I don't like the idea of it, so I grinned and bore it. Although, if that was any indication, I may have to rethink. Either that or take a shot of vodka beforehand :D

So, if I may, I'd like to ask for some opinions, male and female welcome - what are your bikini area preferences?

- Bare
- Strip
- Triangle
- Full

First, I want what you prefer, though i voted for triangle. The triangle gives you the best of both worlds because your most sensitive bits will be bare and yet you'll still have a nice lawn to landscape or mow off depending on your preference in the moment.

From the munching point of view, bare is best which will prevent those annoying stray hairs wrapping around your partners tonsils. From the aesthetic point of view, I like a well groomed playground, so either a strip or triangle or any other wondrous design you desire would be incredibly hot! :p :rose:

Oh, and yes I read the whole thread and see you've had your first session. Glad it all went well for you. Great advice to take your time with the decision and to really research to find a good practitioner to do it for you.

Having very sensitive skin, I have finally had enough of shaving and waxing and decided to get my bikini area lasered.

However, as this is a permanent (hopefully) method of hair removal, I'm torn as to how much to eliminate.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! Also, if anyone has any experience with this treatment and has any advice to offer, that would be welcome as well!

Have a great evening all, and thank you very much!

I am a full man as long as the swimsuit covers it, if not, the triangle is my next preference.

Completely bare is very fashionable at the moment.

Fashions can change over time.

I bought myself a Tria and I am using it on legs, underarms and bikini area - more cost effective than having it done and it seems to be working. Im going through the same decision process right now - as someone else stated Im doing a wide strip and see how it goes.

What about for men? I trim and have shaved smooth before, what are people's preferences for a man's pubic area?

I apologize sir - I didn't intend to be sexist or exclude the gents from my survey. Since I was seeking advice for a personal excursion (my own permanent hair removal), and as I don't have the male equipment, it didn't occur to me to ask about preferences on gentlemen. Could be an interesting survey as well, though, if you're curious.

Personally, I find the totally hairless look on guys to be a bit off-putting and unnatural, but I do appreciate those who do a bit of "manscaping." ;)

So when do we get to see the before and after pics? ;):D:rose:

Ha - it hadn't even occurred to me to take a before picture.

As for after pics, I shall post them when The Ramones announce a reunion tour.

^^
