Jaime turned up the music when Derek came upstairs nearly an hour ago. There, she enjoyed the work that he could do with his hands and shivered every time he kissed her. The music was only to drown out the noise she might send through the party wall to the condo next door, where her brother lived. She had come to live in the condo across the hall from his only a week before, but already she questioned the wisdom of letting her parents talk her into moving nearby. Of course it was to allow her the freedom to go to college in the big city, but it was to keep an eye on her too.

"I'll call you this week," Derek said, the making out finally done, as she turned the music down at 2:25 am. Jaime straightened the long shirt she wore over the small, pink, bikini cut panties in which Derek had his fingers for the better part of the last hour. She had met him the night she moved to town, at a baseball game, and their first date, now ending, went much better than she had thought. But she wasn't sure he was boyfriend material, and having a good time did not mean he got everything he wanted, or that she would let him back for seconds. But being a good girl also didn't prohibit her from walking him out to the breezeway, putting her arms around his neck, and kissing him one last time before watching him walk down the stairs and out to his car.

When he was out of sight, she returned inside, closed the door with a bit more heavy of a slam than intended, then got ready for bed, a grin on her face from the good time she had been shown. Against her better judgment, she had let the older guy in her place, but nothing bad had happened, and she felt like an adult, no longer under her parents' watchful eye. The 25 year old man with the motorcycle and tattoos who had just left after making her body shiver only added to the allure of the story she would surely tell to her best girl friends...once she had them in the new city. Until then, the story was just a secret that she would keep from her parents' proxy - her brother who lived just next door.

Josh heard the music tone down a bit from the next condo unit. Finally! Almost four hours of distraction and the last couple, a loss of sleep. He caught a glimpse from his opposing door viewing piece. Her guest was leaving....and Mom would crap if she saw him. Though he had no objections, Mom was sure to flip over the tattoos.

Not appreciating the position his parents have trapped him in, spying on Jaime, just as she was getting some freedom for change. And he would bet she was not real happy about conceding and agreeing to move next to him. Lord knows, he had a wild ass freshman year finally being outside the family home.

Both older brother, (by two years), and younger sister trapped to an extent. Especially since the parents were picking up our schooling costs. Jaime was a freshman and he was just starting his junior year.

Josh figured when they met tomorrow for brunch, he could get some details and maybe a way for them to have some privacy and no fears of acting normal with such close living arrangements.

All hopefully before that call to Mom.

Jaime peeled off her shorts, content to sleep in some boy short underwear and a shirt that just covered her ass. She stretched and yawned before crashing. Unable to sleep, she thought about the guy who just left. And she thought about how much her parents would shit if they had seen the guy she had been with. At the same time, she grinned, enameled of his charms. She drifted off to sleep, unconcerned of any consequence. It was her life now, and she could do what she wants.

The next day, she woke early, tugged her hair into a messy ponytail and threw on some shorts and a tank top, enough to be comfortable for a run along the wharf in the chilly morning air. Before too long, the day would be warm, but now, she enjoyed the comfortable morning breeze against her skin as her muscles worked and strained to keep her in the best shape possible. The morning hours were hers, and they made each day worthwhile. An hour later, well into a six mile run, she slowed as she turned back on to the rental property, bounded up the stairs, and toward her door, ready for a shower and ready to start the day. She passed her brother's door, wondering if he was awake. She wondered if he was up for breakfast. Perhaps he would buy. She knocked once, then twice. There was no answer. She shrugged and returned to her apartment, showered, and pulled on some khaki shorts and a blue, low cut blouse. Picking up her phone, she texted her brother.

"Breakfast at Glynn's Chophouse. On you." She put her phone down and sat in front of her TV, waiting for an answer.

Josh, always an early riser, heard the knocks at his door, and assumed it was Jaime coming back from a morning run. He decided to let it pass for know, as he was trying to figure what to tell Mom later today.

He reflected on his new found freedom just a couple of years ago, but his sister has a bit wilder streak than he did. Well, at least back then. No family members knew most of the changes he had gone through these last two years. Now, that would really shock Mom & Dad, he chuckled to himself.

He heard a text come in. Picking it up and seeing it was from Jaime. He pondered for a moment, and actually finished another cup of coffee. No real sense in letting her think he was just sitting around waiting for her to contact him. He did have an active private life.

He was actually looking forward to meeting with her to see how her first week of freedom may have changed her. Josh also knew to keep the fact he saw them go in and out of her condo to himself.....but would slightly chide her on the music volume.

Text: "As a treat for you....done. Give me 30 to finish my shower and dress. LY J."

She grinned at her brother's response.

Every time, she thought. He's so easy. She milled about her condo for a while, waiting to hear something more from him once he was ready. Laundry needed to be done. She didn't want to do it. The kitchen was a mess from the shots she had taken the night before with Derek. It could wait. Even making the bed seemed like a chore, so it didn't get done. Not yet. Maybe after breakfast. She looked around as she sat on her couch and found a lighter nearby. She looked at the clock and thought there was just enough time. Leaning forward to take the little decorative wooden box that sat on the small IKEA coffee table, she slid it nearer to her, then opened the flap top where, inside she saw two small joints Derek had stashed. She pulled one to her lips and lit it, stepping toward the balcony door, sliding it slightly open to take first a quick hit, then a second - just enough to feel, before stabbing it out and stashing it back in the box, with the lighter and laying down again to enjoy her light buzz and wait for her brother to be ready.

Josh purposely took almost an hour to get ready. Normally punctual as hell, and actually demanded it of others, he didn't want Jaime getting used to any idea he was at her beck and call. Too many years of seeing her have Dad wrapped around her finger and getting away with things despite the rules. And even out on your own, there are rules, sometimes imposed by others you least expect.

He got his wallet and condo keys, then stepped into the outer foyer and locked his door. It's going to be interesting to see what her place looks like after one week on her own and no one to care for the place like Mom did back home.

He sniffed the air a bit; a faint odor present. He chuckled as he recognized it. They shared a common entrance to their condos, both being on the upper level. And the bottom two units were just vacation units for out of state owners, currently not here. Unless someone had recently been outside the front door below, toking away.....and he filed the fact for future use.

He rapped his knuckles lightly on her door.

Jaime got up and checked herself for any smell of smoke. Not noticing it herself, and naively assuming she would not be detected, she grabbed her small purse and slung the strap across her shoulder, letting it come to rest along her hip. She slid on some wedge sandals and stepped the remaining few steps to the door, where she opened it and found her brother.

"About time," she said, pushing past him into the common area where she pulled the door to and locked it before he had any chance to stick his nose into her place or her business. She smiled sheepishly, before turning and heading toward the stairs that would take her to the parking lot.

"Let's go," she said, over her shoulder, expecting him to follow. "I'm starving."

He watched her march, yes, march, down the staircase. He was so amused and fully expected not to be invited in. And the odor from her condo was even stronger. Bet she didn't even watch what way her exhale was going. She will learn...one way or another. And another way kind of pleased him oddly.

Josh leisurely sat down on the top tread with feet 3 below with his long legs and smiled. He flipped his keys around his finger. Flip....palm catch...release....flip....

Wondering how long she would stand at the car waiting for him. Would she text first? Or come marching back to demand WTF? He knew she was enjoying the new found freedom.....but forgetting her big brother wasn't Daddy.

And the thought of getting her in-line strangely excited him. Never before actually had thoughts of that...but now....it was becoming a growing desire. Maybe he was just drawn to her attitude. Lord knows, all the others that did so.....

"I love Glynn's," she said, stepping down the first staircase toward the parking lot. "I've heard their breakfast is amazing," she continued. "The only time I was there was when I first moved in a few weeks back. Dad wanted to go somewhere with good steak and he asked some guy at the gas station where to go. I was a little skeptical, but the food was amazing. A bit pricey for dad, but definitely a place I could go to more often." She finished her trip to the parking lot, then to the car. "Will you let me have a mimosa?" She asked, before turning and looking at......nobody. She wondered how long she had been speaking to herself. Then she wondered where Josh went.

"Josh?" she raised her voice, watching the staircase, darkened by the building's awning. She looked at her phone to check the time and waited another minute, but not longer. Giving a huffy sigh to nobody in particular, she flipped and flopped her wedges back across the parking lot, then up the first flight of stairs, to the landing. When she turned, she saw her brother, sitting above her at the top of where she had just been. She lifted the sunglasses she had put on during her trip to the car off her face.

"What are you doing?" She inquired. "Let's go."

"Hmmm... I was expecting you to walk down to the car WITH me...not marching off as if a Diva and expecting me to follow at your beck and call. Maybe you forget who you decided would be paying for this outing?

You need to learn, I'm not Dad. And some politeness wouldn't hurt Jaime.....i am scheduled to update Mom today. Maybe you ought to think of the consequences.

Now, get your buns in my car."

And Josh brushed past her.

"Seriously?" Jaime asked in little more than a whisper as her brother passed. She said nothing else, her eyes searching his to see if he meant what he just said, not exactly understanding why she had just gotten an ass chewing. He seemed...something, but she didn't know what. Was he jealous? She wondered. She smirked to herself as she stepped in tow behind him, making sure he couldn't see her face, as she replaced her sunglasses. "I just thought we were going to breakfast," she muttered. "I didn't realize it was a huge thing."

"Save your muttering for you little boyfriends, Jaime. Your entering an adult world, even with the pleasures it offers...they all have consequences."

Josh loved that quiet initial "Seriously".....an uncontrolled response to authority. But he knew she had a huge brat side. And he was getting thoughts about pushing against it.

"Next time, save the grass smoking until your not going out. Your clothes stink."

He watched the slight shock cross her face, as if she thought he was innocent and couldn't know what she had been doing. That welcome to reality so m any freshmen do.

"And any thoughts on the update to Mom?"

Jaime didn't honestly know what she had done or said to irritate Josh. She simply remained quiet and let his words pass over her. She tried hard to not show any reaction at his mention of her boyfriends, though the tone he used made her wonder silently whether or not she had been either caught with Derek last night, had been entertaining too many boys, or both. She further tried to avoid any reaction to his comment about weed, though she was surprised by it.

"I haven't smoked anything," she remarked, perhaps too quickly and defensively. She stepped closer to the car and opened it just after she heard the alarm chirp. Her brother wasn't stupid. If he wasn't overbearing, she could imagine girls finding him attractive, even. She wondered when the last time he had been laid, given his irritable mood. Hell, she wondered if he had a girlfriend since he had moved here. She couldn't think of any. As she got into the car and strapped the seatbelt across her chest, she heard her brother's voice once more.

"And any thoughts on the update to mom?" Josh asked. She just looked at him, perplexed, pressing her bare thighs together and placing her purse on her lap.

"What update?" She asked, truly confused. She still didn't like his tone. "Why are you being like this?" She asked. "What did I do to you? I just wanted us to go have a nice breakfast." She turned to face out the front windshield as she listened for any response he might give.

"Jaime, I'm not being "any way"....I'm being straight forward and you know it. You are enjoying your new found freedom. But that doesn't mean it doesn't have consequences.

And your currently going to have to learn how to cope with me. Our parents expecting me to look out for you. And keep your ass out of trouble. And you will strive to experience it...I know. With agreement between you and I, we can keep them happy with positive reports and let you explore....but within some limits that you will follow."

They pulled up in front of Glynn's.

"Let's have an enjoyable breakfast as you consider the alternatives to being back home....shall we?"

Jaime laughed at her brother's heavy handedness. She looked at him to ask if he was serious, before she spoke.

"You're not serious," she said, as she opened the car door and got out to go inside. "I'm not in any trouble, and I won't be," she continued. "I'll tell mom that you're lying if you tell her I'm in trouble." She tugged her purse strap over her shoulder, across her chest. "And you're a hypocrite," she said. "You drink. You party sometimes. I know you do." She sighed. "This is a dumb fight. Why are we even fighting?" She stepped onto the curb and opened the door, holding it briefly for him as she stepped inside Glynn's. "I'm an adult and I'm starting college," she pleaded. As they took a seat, she looked at the waiter, who she found to be a particularly handsome boy, perhaps a few years older than her brother. She batted her eyelashes and ordered a mimosa and coffee. The waiter nodded and didn't ask for any identification, before he walked away.

"Tell me," she said, now facing her brother and remaining very calm. "What, exactly, have I done that's going to get me in trouble?" She paused, looking past him to smile at the waiter once again. "And what do you propose I do instead?"

"Hmmm...I propose we let the subject drop and enjoy our brunch. It's been a while since I have seen you and I am sure you can fill me in on all the happenings back home. And I will gladly tell you some of the best party places around here. Including the ones to stay away from.

I'd never tell Mom you were in trouble, not my style at all."

Josh didn't fail to notice her purse strap tightly crossing her chest when they entered. When the hell did she develop that much. True, it had been last Christmas when he saw her....but this was a different woman than then. And his kid sister.

"So Ms. Wild and Independent, when did you become so sexy?"

Jaime sat back and smirked, more to herself than to her brother when he dropped whatever issue he had and reassured her that he wouldn't be a petty tattle-tale. She was even more amused that he overlooked her drink order without any push back. The conversation withered to an awkward silence as she looked around the room, noticing the few customers and again taking note of the cute waiter. She gave the guy a grin as he approached once more with her drinks, and one for Josh. She batted her eyelashes as the waiter handed her a menu, and checked him out a bit as he walked away. She had just turned her attention to the brunch lineup, pulling her mimosa to her lips when her brother's voice continued to drone a bit in the periphery of her focus, which was not squarely on him.

"I don't know," she said, a split second before her eyes grew a bit wide, and she put her drink down, looking at him over the menu in her hands. "Wait....what did you say?" She stammered and then blushed. "Sexy?" she raised one eyebrow, as if skeptical at any strange report she just heard, though none perhaps could have been so out of place. "Did you say 'sexy?'" She took another sip and shook her head casually. "I'm not sexy," she played coy. "Who thinks I'm sexy?" She then plied for more information. She felt a slight tingle over the skin of her arms and her thighs. Sexy was not a word she was used to, nor any she used herself. She wasn't stupid. She knew guys liked her, and she knew very well why. And she liked them. But sexy? And from her brother? She simply gave a grin, crossed her athletic legs, and pushed down a tiny giggle, as she took another drink.

Josh smiled a bit as she finally realized what he had said. Lost in considering the waiter, it took a while for his words to sink in.

"Yes, sexy, Jaime. And you know most folks, and I, would use that label....that's how you got past being carded for that drink. And that blush suits you well. Highlights those eyes. Seriously, you must have dozens of boyfriends chasing you."

He felt her legs shift under the table and barely heard her giggle behind the menu. But his attention was on her eyes over the menu. He tried to concentrate at his menu, but was secretly thinking of nibbling her ears. He reached over and gently pushed her menu down a bit.

"There, don't hide that smile from your big brother....I've missed it. Now, buffet or special order? I'm opting for an omelet with cheese and 'shrooms, bacon to the side."

She shook off his comments as just nice words, hesitating to engage him, though she did continue to feel the same tingle through her body as he gracefully let her off the hook.

"Uhh.....I think I want an omelette," she said, standing and heading to the omelette station. She wondered how odd her brother's comments had been, not easily letting them go. She didn't have "dozens" of boyfriends. But she didn't have just one either. Sure, she liked Derek, but being honest, he was not long-term material. She also found the comments interesting in light of the fact that her brother seemed perpetually single. She wondered if he knew what he was doing when it came to women. He was smart, had a decent job, kept in shape, dressed well. He was attractive. She wondered what his cock looked like.

Oh my god! she screamed within the confines of her own head. Stop it! She couldn't believe where her mind had gone, and she quickly focused elsewhere, ordering a spanish omelette and some house potatoes, before returning with her full plate to the table, where she sat down and pulled the napkin from the table onto her lap. She poked at her eggs a moment before shoving some of them into her mouth, following it with some coffee and another sip from the mimosa. Suddenly her phone went off.

Beach later? the text from Derek read. She grinned then looked up at her brother.

"Can you drop me off at the beach this afternoon?" She asked, her lower lip pausing between her teeth as she awaited his response. Of course she would like to see Derek again. Maybe have him over to finish what they had started. At the same time, her brother would be her only means of getting there - at least until she established a bank account to use with Uber or got a ride of her own.

What time? She responded to Derek, while waiting for her brother's response. She waved to the waiter and ordered a second mimosa.

Josh noted she was responding to a text as she started her meal. His arrived at the same time and he started in. But Jaime's face still looked flushed. Other thoughts?
He put the reasoning out of his foreground for now.

As normal, his phone was at home. He never went out with it, always ensuring he concentrated on the lady he was with. And his inner self said..."she's your sister". And that discussion was shoved aside into it's own box.

"I can do that, Jaime. I'll probably spend the afternoon at the pool we have if you get back early." And his mind frantically wondering what her body looked like in a bikini. And he blushed a bit as that thought ran rampant. So wrong, but so intense.

He thought about calling up one of the regulars who he normally socialized with. But none seemed to compare right now to Jaime.

"Do you need some cash to tide you over for today? Gotta pay me back, but can float you until you're set up without issues."

And that damn sexy lip biting.....his weak spot for sure. He dove into his meal...trying to distract himself from staring. And from that irritating call to Mom.

He looked up and found Jaime looking intensely at him.

Her face broke into a smile.

"Really?" She asked. "Thanks." His generosity doubled down when he offered her cash. "Could I have maybe.....fifty bucks?" She hoped she hadn't overstepped any bounds. "I mean.....Derek should buy drinks or whatever, but just in case." She stabbed at her meal. "I may not use all of that and I'll bring whatever is left back." Her mind roamed to what she was going to wear. She had several tiny bikinis, but she thought the purple and pink one that she had bought over the summer would be best. If the goal was to look cute, anyway.

No sooner had she become proud of her decision than her phone warbled again.

Tonight? 9? Her shoulders dropped and she sighed.

"Really?" She asked to nobody in particular. She looked at her brother. "Well, nevermind," she said. "Who wants to go to the beach at dark?" She ignored the text and smiled at the waiter, now bringing her second mimosa.

"I'd go to the beach any time," the waiter said, prompting her to smile even broader, obviously enjoying the mutual flirt.

"Thanks," she said, glancing quickly at Josh, as if he wouldn't notice the obvious. She blushed again.

Josh winked at her as she glanced at him and gave a slight chuckle. "True, but dark does have it's advantages at times, Jaime."

He slowly thought about his follow up, then said, "Well, I'd enjoy seeing your beach wear poolside or we could go to the beach together if that's not a repulsive idea sis." Once again attracted by that blush....and wondering what she was thinking of earlier.
He found himself politely rearranging himself under the table. Would it be a thong suit or would she be less daring if it was with him vice Derek? And why did he have desire for it to be daring?

"Now drink up and let's stroll a bit before we head home, sexy. Hell, we might even find you a new suit to wear, on me, if you keep that blush."

Her eyes narrowed. Her brother was acting weird. Sexy? Really?

"Can we just get some beer and hang at the pool?" She asked. "I'd like that."

He smiled at her response....and liked that she was choosing time with him. He saw that narrowing of her eyes, and realized, no, knew his family didn't really know about his private life.

"I would like that also, Jaime. We can loosen up a bit and relax." He paid the tab and escorted her out to the car and enjoyed the feel of her elbow....tingling his fingers.

"We can hit the corner store and pick up some drinks and something for dinner for later. I am actually a pretty good chef. Doesn't take long at school to get bored of fast food and delivery, Jaime. Makes you desire for more....."

And he quietly blushed at the words and how he was reading them inside.

Two hours later, Jaime cracked another beer. No telling how many this was. She took a strong pull and heard her phone warble. She looked at it beneath her sunglasses, then returned them over her eyes, sat her beer down and reached for more suntan lotion, making sure her legs, then her thighs, then her arms, shoulders, and stomach were well covered. Returning the bottle to the bag nearby, she laid back on the lounge chair to gather more rays. She felt a strong buzz and, beneath her sunglasses, looked at her brother nearby. She though he looked good. Better than she had noticed before. She wondered if he worked out. She never saw him leave to go to the gym, but she had only been living nearby for just over a week. Her phone buzzed again. She sighed.

"Derek wants to come over," she ignored the text again. "I never should have let him know where I lived." She sighed. "So if he shows up, I may need you to throw him out." She was irritated because the boy from last night was playing games. He didn't want to go to the beach until dark, but when he learned she was at the pool, he wanted to stop by....conveniently where she was comfortable...near her apartment....her bed....and a place where he could get what he wanted.

Boys. She thought. Her semi-drunk mind made her think, but not for very long before she spoke up.

"Why aren't you dating anyone?" She asked Josh. She looked around the pool and saw a few attractive women from the complex coming and going. "There are some cuties here that would probably think you're hot too."

Shit, she thought. Too? What the fuck, Jaime? Her phone bleated once more.

I'm hanging out with my brother today. Hit me up next week. She responded, putting her guy of the week on ice. She stretched out once more on the lounge, and laid back once again, thinking about whether she made the right call. Derek had been fun. And he looked amazing.

Forget it, she thought, taking another drink of her beer.
