The typical American household must spend an additional $11,434 annually just to maintain the same standard of living they enjoyed in January of 2021, right before inflation soared to 40-year highs, according to a recent analysis of government data.

Such figures underscore the financial squeeze many families continue to face even as the the rate of U.S. inflation recedes and the economy by many measures remains strong, with the jobless rate at a two-decade low.

Even so, many Americans say they aren't feeling those gains, and this fall more people reported struggling financially than they did prior to the pandemic, according to CBS News polling. Inflation is the main reason Americans express pessimism about economy despite its bright points, which also include stronger wage gains in recent years.

"On the edge"

Average hourly pay for workers has increased robust 13.6% since January 2021, although that lags the 17% increase in inflation during the same period, according to government data. The main categories requiring heavier spending for consumers simply to tread water: food, transportation, housing and energy, which together account for almost 80 cents of every $1 in additional spending, according to the analysis from Republican members of the U.S. Senate Joint Economic Committee.

Let's see how that works out for the Democrats going forward.

EXCLUSIVE: Here’s How Much Regulations Cost Average American Family—and How Biden Is Making It Worse

Tyler O'Neil / @Tyler2ONeil / November 29, 2023

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—Americans expect to pay federal taxes, but the federal government also picks their pockets in more hidden ways, and President Joe Biden is making the problem worse in pursuing his political agenda, according to the Competitive Enterprise Institute.

“American households pay at least $14,000 in hidden regulatory costs every year,” Wayne Crews, the Fred L. Smith fellow in regulatory studies at the institute, says in a new video provided exclusively to The Daily Signal. “Instead of finding ways to cut those costs for Americans, President Biden’s whole-of-government policymaking framework prioritizes political causes like climate change and equity in the regulatory process.”

“At CEI, we believe it is essential to increase transparency and accountability in the rulemaking process, and make sure rulemaking agencies stick to their original mandates,” adds Crews, who lays out three major recommendations in his new report, “Ten Thousand Commandments: A Snapshot of the Federal Regulatory State,” published Wednesday.

“Rules made by federal agencies impose a cost of government that extends well beyond what Washington taxes,” Crews told The Daily Signal. “Federal environmental, safety and health, social, and economic regulations grip the economy, making it needlessly harder and more expensive to run a household or business in this country.”

Ah yes, 17% of an average income before taxes ($87,434 in 2022). Democrats still have time to pile on even more regulations before the 2024 elections.

When those hill-billies are paying $90 for a turkey it's hardly surprising.

Screw regulations! Fuck safe water, bridges, houses......who needs it when you have an extra $11k a year?

So what if that money will instead be lost to medical bills? You'll also have a few years less to worry about it anyway!

Couldn’t just let the legit news source stand alone? It didn’t have that same scare up conservatives language in the article so you had to follow up with one of those??

I mean, there is a sliver of hope…you posted a legit news source instead of some conservative biased “source”…but you got itchy and had to follow right up with the second.

But yes, you did have one legit source. Gold star. Try doing that with every thread you start…odds are you will get folks to actually read those.

You did seem leave out a paragraph from your thread starter quote. I guess it didn’t fit your narrative. To the average knuckle dragging mouth breather (like yourself) an article that starts with 2021 and today of course only means Joe…
To be sure, economists point to a number of pandemic-related issues as the cause of high inflation, rather than decisions from any one political party. For instance, spending bills were signed by both Presidents Donald Trump and Joe Biden that put stimulus money into the hands of millions of Americans, while global supply-chain snarls and labor shortages drove up the cost of goods and services.

Admittedly I did not read the article. I don't really care about that.

What caught my eye, and is objectionable to me, is the term, "Bidenomics." The use of that term implies that Biden is somehow in charge of economic policy and also that an economic policy exists. I don't think either is the case and the term creates a sense of legitimacy and oversight that doesn't exist in this administration.

Biden is legit whether you like it or not, now how much oversight any president has isn't really clear but its mostly working.

It's a term invented by the President and his people.

President Biden has been quite involved with matters involving the economy.

From dealing with the port issues, averting a railroad strike, standing with the auto workers to speed up negotiations, shepherding massive economic investment bills through congress and signing them into law, helping stabilize the global supply chain, negotiating sales of military equipment, maintaining traditional energy production while assisting the transition to greener energy sources and vehicles, responding quickly to natural disasters and some major infrastructure failures that could have slowed a fragile economy, demanding that the Airlines fix their shit, etc, etc.

Initiating the new challenge to China’s “Belt and Road” in the form of a massive rail project from India to Europe was President Biden’s top international economic achievement imho.

Pressuring the Fed to get its shit together and guaranteeing deposits in the wake of the mini bank crisis was also a fairly major display of President Biden’s involvement in the economy.

And, oh by the way, President Biden has kept the country out of " The Next Great Depression" that the MAGAts predicted would occur IMMEDIATELY upon his taking office.

Bidenomics indeed!!!

👍

🇺🇸

Side note:

The full scale Covid vaccine rollout helped the economy as well, despite those that tried to sabotage things.

👍

Yes, legitimately mentally retarded.

He's pretty sharp for someone you claim to be mentally retarded. I love when he actually stops holding back like he has the last few weeks. We need that guy all day.

As for refuting it with numbers of my own there no way to refute that nonsense and each person's living conditions are too different for me to make any generalization that broad with my data.

How about you though. Are you making 11k more in 2023 than you did in 2022? Cus if you are I would love to have you mentor me as I'm certain many on this board would. Cus that is fantastic. Even if you were making say 100k (which I'm comfortable assuming you're not) that would still be a 10% year over year gain meaning you're beating even the worst of inflation under Biden.

If the economy sucks can we still call it bidenomics? :ROFLMAO:
Orange-omics was awesome with the losses to the economy. Oh wait, pandemic related? Just like the article said that Wrongguide couldn’t bother to read. Could cite it but not that little detail.,

Proposed Lead and Copper Rule Improvements

On November 30, 2023, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the proposed Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI). Learn more using the links below:

it would be in the GOPers’ interest to oppose this since fewer voters with developmental cognitive disorders would reduce their base. 😝
