President Biden in an interview with ABC that aired Thursday said "no one's being killed" in Afghanistan despite reports of at least seven deaths amid the chaos at Kabul's airport and of Taliban beating people on their way to the airport, as he defended his handling of the American withdrawal from the country.

No, I'm not impressed with much that's in that ABC interview. The Biden folks are not the only ones who fucked this up, but the Biden administration DID fuck this up and it needs to step up smartly with whatever can now be done, not make poor excuses for not having been up front in understanding that both the Afghan government and the Taliban have been working us on this one (with the recent help of the Trump people) for more than a decade.

And to the Faux News commentators now posing the despicable position of "We don't know anyone who promised to get these local assets out," I'll note that times may have changed, but I hired local assets for intelligence purposes overseas for years, and our contracts did, in fact, specify fast tracking to Green cards for the whole family and extraction as necessary. It's simply unconscionable (and a death wish for the future) to just decide we don't have that obligation because we failed to prepare for it.

President Biden probably doesn't "recall" the suggestion because he dismissed it out of hand IF it was ever made. I know I would have.

I thought President Biden's interview struck the perfect balance of clear eyed and steadfast when it came to the realities of exiting from Afghanistan under the challenging conditions resulting from the traitor in chief's "Doha deal" with the Taliban.

The only question is; which republican "president" left things worse for their democratic successor: George "shrub" Bush leaving his financial and Middle East crises for President Obama, or the traitor in chief leaving his Covid, insurrection, and Afghanistan crises for President Biden????
