Any war in Afghanistan involving a foreign power and the indigenous peoples is unwinnable...........period. Trump acknowledged that hence the Doha Accords.

The US withdrawal from Afghanistan was conditional based on the Taliban living up to it's obligations in the accord as is clearly stated in the first paragraph of Section 1. Their living up to their obligations triggered the commitments that the US agreed to.

With the change of administration the Taliban demanded that the US live up to it's obligations without their having to meet theirs and they succeeded leading to the Aug. debacle.

The fact that the new administration did not stay within the framework of the agreement is NOT Trumps fault.
