I think they should both be fully ashamed of themselves, and the enmity of the American people rightly rests on their shoulders. They would have offered a far superior choice than what we have now. I don't buy the personal bullshit. For biden certainly, he has known nothing in life except being a politician; Romney to a lesser extent, but still... I believe they had an obligation to their country, and they failed to live up to that obligation. I'm not saying either choice would have been good, but at least I could have voted without throwing up in my mouth a little.

I would vote for either of those two rather than vote for one of the disasters the major parties foisted off on us. I have read that Obama intends to resign rather than finish his term. I don't believe that but, if he did and Biden became POTUS and said he wanted to run for reelection, I would vote for him, even if he were a write-in candidate.

I would be comfortable with that. Biden knows he made a huge mistake.

Joe Biden isn't sorry he didn't make a run for it. He's been up front about that. He's tired and grief-stricken. He just lost his son to a long bout of cancer--a son he almost lost when Biden's wife and daughter were killed in an automobile accident in 1972. Sometimes life gets in the way of everything else.

But, yeah, it's too bad Romney didn't make more of a bid to run. I could have lived with him as president.

Bullshit. Politics has been his life. Granted he's had personal tragedies. So have a lot of people. He chose this life and he owes it to the American people who've supported him all these years. Soldiers go through personal trauma ,too, yet find a way to go on. Life goes on. Now because of his decision, we have to vote for an awful candidate? I'd take crazy uncle Joe.

He doesn't owe anything to the American people--certainly not to an asshole like you. I'll bet you've done nothing for anyone.

By the way, there are thousands of soldiers who didn't find a way to go on after the trauma of serving in the military.

What a dipshit you are.

The hell he does. Those two assholes are going to leave us with HRC and Trump? they should have gotten the fuck off the sidelines and into the game. If you spend a fucking lifetime in politics, with no other useful function, the least you could do is serve when you're needed.

All I asked when this started that the next president be neither a Clinton nor a Bush, as the election of one or the other would confirm our course to oligarchy.

Little could I imagine that the alternative was a man with no qualifying government or military experience.

As much as I wished for Biden, I understand that he knows what a presidential campaign entails. I've also seen what losing your family before their time can do to a person. Joe has suffered a lot, he's old and not so resilient, and winning the campaign is only the beginning. The presidency really puts a person under a lot of stress and ages them prematurely. I think he did a lot of soul searching and knows that he didn't want it any more, or didn't have it in him.

As for Romney, his wife didn't want him to run again, and he promised her he wouldn't. A wise man keeps his promises to his wife.

I can't blame either one for not running again.

But yes, they are both well qualified without being disqualified. Relatively and reasonably honest, and respect The Constitution. Non-controversial. I'm sorry I can't say the same for ClinTrump.

My feelings precisely.

There are times when you simply have to sacrifice everything for the good of your country. I know it's not a great example, but think about those superstar baseball players who interrupted their careers to fight in WWII. Ted Williams, Bob Feller among others. It's an act of patriotism. For HRC, this campaign is a matter of destiny. Why would Trump want to be President? I just know if I were him, I would want no part of it. Who needs it? I would enjoy my success and wealth until I died. I would try to do good things for those less fortunate, and help my family. I get the impression he couldn't spend all his money even if he wanted. Is Trump a patriot? I guess they are both "patriots" in the sense that they want to serve their country. It's just that their vision is so askew.

Romney wasn't a good choice when he was a candidate for a major party....

Frankly, I'd love to see his sons on "Conan" again, & kind of hope they do so in 8 years right before one of them pulls a Seahorn-Harmon & announces their candidacy.

Romney was not that great, and he ran a poor campaign. Even so, he was about a million times better than either of the major candidates this year. In order to avoid puking after I vote, I intend to vote for Gary Johnson in Nov. He's more honest and more qualified and a better choice than any of the other candidates.

Edited for accuracy.

On a side-note, why not vote for "Big Dick Johnson" (WWE character for a stretch, now working as a "Lucha Underground" producer)? I'd say it counts for those wanting to bring back the original President Clinton?

NOW Biden wants to be president. Disgraceful. I'm still angry at both him and Romney.
These men had a duty to their country and they let us down. They should both be ashamed of themselves. Spare me the baloney about his son's passing. Many people endure tragedies, yet find the strength to carry on. Politics were his entire reason for being. When crunch time came, he bailed.

Nobody has a duty to run for president. Aren't you the spiffy entitled one?

They may not have an obligation, but they most certainly have a duty. Take Biden. An entire life, singularly dedicated to politics. He reaches the highest level of government.
He sees, or should have seen, how the election was shaping up. His party is a disgrace. he knows the nomination is being rigged in favor of the most reviled and distrusted candidate in any of our lifetimes. He knows there is no possible way she could win.
I think if Biden could have pointed out and overcome the corruption of the DNC, he could have won the nomination and the general election, IMO. I know he's old and I know he had a personal tragedy. He's not unique in that sense. Politics WAS his life. His opportunity was there to help his fellow citizens was there and he turned his back. I can't forgive him for that. I don't belong to a political party, but I would have voted for him or Romney over the terrible choices we were given.

Biden is married. Biden loves his wife. His wife also suffered a personal tragedy. A campaign would put a lot of stress on his wife.

No they don't. You're full of crap. They both are beyond the usual retirement age. They can retire, just like anyone else. Even before that, they had no obligation or duty to run for political office. You're just full of crap on that demand.

You're making him sound like a burger flipper at McDonald's. He was a heartbeat away.
And actually, he himself is proving my point in spades. He is putting together the framework to run in 2020. Can you believe that? He KNOWS he made a huge mistake and his country is suffering because of it. Retire. He'll be nursing-home age by 2020.
Why would he sacrifice his family life at this point? He made a mistake and he knows it.

Because more time has passed, and his wife is better able to deal with it.

Most of the 'candidates' mentioned are tooooooo OLD! We need a younger person who has a future to consider that might do something about our problems, other than 'same old, same old shit.'

We need to dump the old farts out of the congress too.

For that reason, why even worry about it until after the 2018 elections?
