Biden administration imprisoning record number of children in adult cells at border

Yes, it's a problem.

  • Under Trump, children were held for over a YEAR at detention centers, in accordance with Trump's "Cruelty Is The Point" policy.
  • Under Biden, that holding time has been reduced to 107 HOURS per your article, well over the 72-HOUR maximum mandated by law. That is 35 HOURS more than allowed and 35 HOURs (almost one and half DAYS) that those poor kids will NEVAR get back.

It's an absolute outrage and I completely back your call for your fainting couch.

So I am sure you can also link to a post of your's showing your outrage when Trump was also locking up the children for longer periods eh?

Trump and Obama are gone. Whataboutism is irrelevant to what is happening right now. These kids were encouraged to come to the border by Biden’s rhetoric and now they are being detained in record numbers. This is unacceptable.

Again, there's a difference between TEMPORARY detention (Biden policy) and INDEFINITE (Trump policy) detention. We give BoBo a pass on this as English is not his native language. You, however, have no excuse.

Baby is just another dipshit Republicant who doesn't read past the headlines of their own articles.

A record number of unaccompanied children are being held in adult detention cells at the border. These are not “welcome centers” and this is not humane. It was entirely predictable and entirely avoidable.

While it is an unacceptable condition, as said it is also a temporary thing as evidenced by this passage for your cited article:

“As far as HHS, we continue to work with them to move children out of our custody as quickly as we can,” Miller said, “and we need to move them out quicker.”

The other thing unsaid so far is that these kids showed up alone as opposed to being forcibly separated from their parents. and unlike an adult they can't be just turned loose on the streets.

As far as your "whataboutism" claim, aren't you, in a drool, sarcastic, intentionally erroneous and backhanded way doing the same thing with your post?

Yeah...

*Biden and his whole cadre of crazies are CRAZY and SHAME on all that dont see it and are offended by me saying this.....instead of using safe and humane CXW holding spaces they will screw up NASA....JUST IN: US considers using NASA facility to house migrant children -ABC....LUNATICS

I hope you’re right and they do figure out a way out of the mess they created. I have not seen a timeline. As you note, these kids are not being separated from their parents because there are no parents with them. And no, calling attention to the crisis that Biden created is not backhanded whataboutism. All presidents must be held accountable. The current POTUS does get an exemption.

So defending the Trump administration for separating kids from their parents (some for months or years) and then complaining about a TEMPORARY condition, which is already being addressed isn't a back alley attempt at whataboutism? Yeah, Okay, Uh Hu, right. You can fool some of the people some of the time...

that isnt true

you have no way of knowing that at all

Sorry, I don’t save everything I’ve ever posted on social media. I don’t recall Trump publicly encouraging people to come to the border and seek asylum. Maybe I missed it.

What does having Trump, Obama, or Washington (for that matter)promoting "come to the border and seek asylum" have to do with children being lock up in detention centres and (not) expressing rage over that?

I have gone through your posting history here on Lit, I have not found one example of you condemning Trump, for the exact same ( all be to a much more extreme level of incarceration, and even worse actions involving illegal immigration) that Biden has done.

It seems your complaint is not really about the locking up, but the fact that they are coming in the first place, and Biden is not acting like Trump did.

You brought up Trump. Not me. There are record numbers of children imprisoned under unsafe conditions at the border. It was predictable and avoidable. Biden is the President. You seem ok with that.

Yes, my outrage is situational. The situation is outrageous. You and your friend apparently are fine with it.

I'm fine with the progress being made to correct the situation, yes. But then, I'm not fixated on immediate gratification to the extent that you seem to be.

Yes I brought up Trump, and it was a fair point for me to raise. Trump did exactly the same ( and worse). While you can of course object to what Biden is now doing, and state your objections to it. That does not mean I cannot question your past actions on the detention of children.

My question to you is an honest question. You are trying to deflect and call it "whataboutism". Sorry but the fact remains that when Trump did it, you sat silent, or perhaps even cheered that action on.

As to how I feel about Biden doing it, or how I felt when Trump did it. I find that heartbreaking, and I still do.

Trump was your president, and Biden is your president, not mine. However I stated objections to it under Trump, and I object to it under Biden.

At least I am consistent on my messaging, can you claim the same?

1. I was not active on the forum back in the early days of the Trump administration. So yes, I was silent. What’s your point?

2. Trump is not the President. You need to accept that. This post is about something that is happening now under the Biden administration. His rhetoric has encouraged the present border surge and his lack of preparation has created a crisis. Stay on point.

3. If you want to discuss Trump’s handling of border control and immigration law enforcement, you should start a thread on that topic.

My point is, I'd like you to go on record on Trump. Period. ( note my join date is actually later here than yours)

Why, because if you don't go on record on the past portion of the detention of children, the thread you started can be simply dismissed as political posturing.

I have gone on record, dare you?

Trump has never been my president, nor is Biden, I am pretty sure I have stated that numerous time, your country is your country, I don't reside in it, nor vote in your elections.

You enjoy dodging Trump now, but you were most supportive of him in the past, to me I find this "shield" you throw up very entertaining, and no I do not have to start a thread on Trump's handling of the border, there are many of those already. Some of which you posted in btw.

It’s obvious what you’re trying to do. You’re trying to make this about Trump. It really bothers you that President Biden is now the subject of scrutiny.

That's not what he's doing at all.

He's simply pointing out that you had NOTHING to say about this issue for the past four years of the Trump administration, but as soon as a Democratic president was elected you suddenly began clutching your pearls and calling for your fainting couch.

This strikes more than a few of us here questioning both your timing and motive.
