I know Betticus had a doctor's appointment yesterday with a specialist and that he's been having computer problems at the same time. I was just wondering if anyone has heard how he is doing?

Thanks,
Caela

Betticus and YIM

Talked to Betticus briefly tonight. They drew lots of blood and are running lots of tests. He goes back to the Dr. in a few weeks.

Thanks Private, I just hopped off messenger with him myself. I was annoyed when he told me it's going to take them three weeks to get his results back. With all the problems he's been having you'd think they'd bump his tests up a bit and get his bloodwork sorted out.

Sometimes I hate labs.

Hey, it took ,e 6 weeks before my Dr's PA asked me if I snored... and that was after I said I was falling asleep at the keyboard. I was on the waiting list for a polysomnogram (sleep test) for 3 months, then another 2 months after getting the diagnosis of sleep apnea to get tested so set the machinery I use at night to the right level.

The amount of time it takes doctors to do things sometimes is maddening. Makes me wonder why I want to work in a hospital at times...then I remember that I get to work in the place where things get DONE (will be working in an OR) and that I don't have to deal with all the beforehand waiting and testing and I'm o.k. again.

More annoyingly it's gonna be another THREE WEEKS before the dr can see him again.

Stupid, idiot doctors.

Exactly!!! I just don't get it. You'd think when your talking about problems that are possibly life threatening doctors could step up a little quicker. Makes me want to drive out there and throttle his doctors.

LOL Now their and idea.

I can take out all the anger I have pent up at my doctors on his doctor.

Hm, that might not be a good idea, I think I'd end up in jail.

Darn.

Well I guess for adults they take their sweet time but for kids doctor's will do somersaults. My cousin's baby (the baby is five years old) was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma (a form of bone cancer). Her first ever doctor appointment was the beginning of June and they rushed the kid through all the mandatory tests. By July 12 she was on chemo. She is expected to make a full recovery.

Here is Quebec, for adults they take their sweet time but with kids, they rush.

that's how it is pretty much everywhere

Nope, it isn't.
I mean, sure, for kids they do more, but around here you get to see your doctor the same week, for a specialist you want to go to the first time maybe 3 weeks. But they all have emergency hours, so when push comes to shove, you might be waiting a couple of hours at their office, but you will be seen.
I start wondering why so many here complain about our health system... Seems like paradise compared to all your problems.

Then there's Military Dr.'s they just don't give a shit. Great fact to know that military dr.s are dr.s that failed their boards more than four times in a row so no civilian hospital would take them.. they let my mom get pneumonia and told her she wasn't sick, she just had "chest bluckies" first off, what's a bluckie? Esp. the army dr.s, they think 800mg motrin is a cure-all "Oh, you've got broken ribs. Take this motrin...."yadayada....LOL, but atleast we don't have to pay for their services..

They hurry if it's OBVIOUSLY life threatening, but otherwise it depends on your health insurance. (This is against the law - but try and prove they're doing it.)

I had a friend who's son had pnemonia. She took him into the emergancy room, where they told her it was a viral infection. She pulled out her checkbook and said "I will pay if it turns out it was unnecessary."

They took the chest x ray, and he had such severe pnemonia that he was immediately hospitalized. (Let me tell you, those doctors were kissing her ass.)

And before you ask, her doctors office was making her wait for a month before she could get an appointment, it's why she finally just took him into the emergancy room.
