For most, a moonlit night at the lakeside would sound like a wonderful evening... but there was something about being a the pier this late at night that left a chill down Mikaela's back. It had been around this time that she had found that strange circle of people two years ago...

No, not people. There was something wrong with those beings, something quite inhuman. She couldn't quite put her finger on it back then....

But now she knew. Hell, she had one that decided to use her body as his own damned apartment. Demons. The ones that had been here two years ago obviously had plans, all revolving around the churches. At first she had thought the same as everyone else; it was just a myth, and urban legend that had no real truth to it. The four churches being a blockade against the gateway to hell? Sounded like some messed up kid's story- until that bell never sounded.

Then all hell literally broke loose.

Mik still wasn't sure entirely what had happened. All she remembered was being on patrol, seeing the strange gathering of people at the lakeside, and someone screaming... Next thing she knew, she had her gun drawn against a man in black that was holding the strangest knife she had ever seen. He was threatening to cut a younger man- she had to save him. She shot that cloaked figure a good 4 times, but he never went down... He just.. vanished. No blood, no nothing. He was just.. gone.

At first she didn't believe Montague, the man she had saved. He claimed to be a demon, and that the others had been demons as well... That he still had a remnant of a soul, which made him the perfect sacrifice to open the gates. It all sounded like bullshit to her- until he entered her body. Now he seemed to have taken up residence there, only taking a human form on rare occasions . Mikaela wasn't exactly thrilled at the idea of being partially possessed by a paranoid demon, but at least she knew where he was.

He seemed rather quiet tonight. A good thing, she figured... Once he got riled up, it was hard to calm him down. Besides, she really hated how foolish she looked yelling at herself. Maybe she could actually finish her beat without any incident tonight.

Nothing made any sense hunting down priests and altar boys in order to weaken people faith. The former hit man wished things would go back to sane back when people killed people for simple reasons like money or lack of sex.

The priest his guts hanging out crawled over the floor he followed behind almost tripping in the blood. He did not want to kill the priest a kindly whit haired old man but if he did not he would be made to. The bits and piece that floated to his mind was of a savage butcher that reveled in death and destruction. The gun leveled and barked sanding the bullet to lodge in the concrete floor. Bits of skull and gray matter with a liberal coat of blood decorated the walls of the rectory.

He could have disposed of the body but this was all part of the plan a campaign against god his servants and the flock. The cross burned into his skin glowed brightly the color of blood the man was dead. His soul captured eventually even this servant of god would serve the dark prince. He moved slowly placing the gun in the holster under his right armpit.

The church was empty but he had earned of entire congregations slaughtered in the middle of a sermon or baptism. The news seemed blanked out as far as most of the world knew things were peaches and crème. He walked slowly to the door wishing he had let the black beast take over. His body always came back damage but at least the nightmares would stop for a while.

They were the worse threats really infantine pain that felt all to real and left all to real scars that never seemed to heal right. The black marks all over his body would never leave until he served out his purpose. He stopped placed the gun in his mouth then pulled it out 3 earlier attempts had thought him that he could not end it that easily.

"I so deserve a girlie night tonight...," Mik sighed out, slipping back into her car and moving her jacket aside from the passenger's seat. She paused a moment, giving a deep glare into the rearview at her own eyes. "NO, Monty. You don't get to join. You'd better take human form when we get our asses home. I don't want a pervie demon in the tub with me."

"Reskev!"

The sound of her cb nearly made her jump, having expected a response from her demon occupant- not her commanding officer. "Yes sir!," she stammered out, her finger resting on the button as she gave another glance in the mirror. *No backtalk now, Monty. Kinda busy.*

"Just got a report of some disturbances near Saint Michael's. Possible gunfire. Check that out, we've got a few calls coming in."

"Sure." Mik frowned. Well, that put a hold on her plans. Probably more wanna-be thugs showing off... All she'd really need to do is turn her siren on and they'd scamper like rats. Still, she had really been looking forward to a long soak, some candles, and a glass of wine. Two of them... Nah, screw it. The whole damn bottle.

She flicked on her lights as she came back onto main street, peeking into the side alleyes to see how many scampering backsides she could spot. As expected, she caught sight of a few shocked faces trying to get away from the red and blue flashes. "813 to base. All seems clear at Saint Michael's. Heading-"

She dropped the mic as a shooting pain ran down her neck; a usual thing from her paranoid occupant. "Fucking HELL, Monty!," She shouted, grabbing her neck as she slammed her brakes. "What was that all ab-" She paled slightly as she heard the three gunshots, looking out the window to see the man holding a gun to his head as he stood in the church doorway.

The cross turned blue ice cold something from hell was coming this way he holstered the gun taking out a pair of axes. “damn id Abbadon I can take him on my own“ he spun the axes like old fashioned six shooters. Slowly his eyes swept the area spotting a pig in a blanket already squeaking for back up. The first spinning ax blade took of the mirror missing her face by a bare mm. he caught it above his head as slowly he walked down the church stairs towards the parked squad car.

Reaching the door de tore it of the hinges and threw it knocking down the bell tower the sound of the holy bell. he fell to his knees covering his ears holy silver the bell contained trace amounts of silver. He fell back covering his ears as the woman sat there she pulled out her gun. “here piggy piggy“ he said taunting the woman already he could feel Abbadon trying to crawl out of his hole. He could here another patrol car but the demon would not let him leave yet. He reached for his gun but the demon yanked it from his belt tossing into onto the gravel.

Lust was slumbering peacefully in the church bell tower until the sharp ringing awoke him, causing little more than discomfort for the mighty demon. He muttered to himself and gazed down at the scuffle going on below “oh joy” he jumped down to a lower roof ad toyed with the idea of interfering, the participants were pretty good looking, the possessed girl was so beautiful in her uniform and the male looked so dangerous and hot. Lust started to get hard under his robes ad realized his instincts were betraying him once again “damit, this is ridiculous, the female is understandable but the male?! I hate these powers” He sat on the ledge and watched the fight, trying to ignore the impulses that came with being the demonic lord of lust.

Rahl Sparda watched silently from a nearby alley as the fight progressed. He'd been sent here to retrieve something from the church, something that apparently shouldn't be on holy ground, according to the person hiring him. He was told he'd know it when he saw it, but that could mean any number of things. There could have been only two reasons for the requested retrieval. Either the object was not safe on church grounds or not safe for the church to have on the grounds, or the person hiring him was of less honorable intentions than she seemed. Either way, he'd figure that out when he got back with the object.

In the meantime, he observed the fight. He wasn't the least bit surprised when a police car showed up, though the woman did look a little unusual. Of course, when something took out her mirror, he had almost acted. He ignored the impulse to protect her just because of her femininity, simply because that tended to get him in trouble, and instead focused on the fight, which he realized he might have to break up soon. He reached behind him, and loosened his father's sword in its sheath, before drawing both handcrafted .45s he carried. The light glinted slightly off the barrels of the mismatched guns, one black as night, the other bright ivory. The color was why he'd named them what he had. Ebony and Ivory, opposing forces. He waited a few more moments, then stepped out of the shadows.

"Jesus-!"

Mikaela swallowed hard as her mirror split from her door, looking up to see the man coming down the steps of the church. "That's no streettrash...," She muttered out, giving a surprised cry as her door was suddenly ripped from the frame. Her hand quickly pulled her gun, trying to block out the frantic cries in her head from a freaked out Montague.

"Stay back, dammit!" She wasn't sure if the shout was intended for the guy before her, or the demon in her mind. The man's taunts only made her angrier, shoving her foot out against his chest in attempt to get enough space to get out of the car. Being stuck in here was only giving him an opening... His chest was like a rock! Instead, she grabbed onto the center console of her car, hoisting herself into the passenger's seat so she could get out the other door.

"Put down the weapons!," She demanded, her gun trained on the man's arm. "I'm warning you! Father Harris, is everything alright in there?," She calle dover her shoulder, glancing towards the church. "Father? Answer me!" She gave another glare to the man before her, her eyes narrowed. "What did you do?"

She fired it must have been from fear the bullet hit the end of the axes shaft 12 inches of steel. It formed a splinter punching into a pocket of flesh just below his eyes his skin smoked. He smiled copping the roof and floor of the car splitting it in half “I crushed a bug a bug in a white collar“ he says with a smile stepping through the ruins of the car he watches her firing another shot. He moves trying to strike her with the palm of his fist he wonders if he hits her as a bullet rings the bell.

He falls to his knees the sound of the bell echoing through his head blood trickles out of his ears. The cross glows bright blue again frost moving through his skin turning it black he smiles. “Rook for rent need room mate must love death destruction and long walks on the beach“ he says only half sane the bells are slowly eating away his sanity at least for the moment. He moves forward opening his eyes the blurry scenery slowly clearing up as he sees the woman.

Rahl rolled his eyes, and stepped around the young police officer, raising the high caliber handguns, and studied the two before him. One was a demon. The other was...Rahl wasn't sure. It smelled like a demon, but didn't act like one. At the female officer's shouted question into the church, Rahl shook his head. "Don't waste your breath, Lady, he's already dead. Can't you smell it? Big and Ugly up on the steps killed him. No clue who the other guy is, but you'd best run along home to mommy and let the boys play." He fired twice, the blessed rounds screaming through the tainted air as they raced towards the creature before him. They wouldn't kill it, but they'd cause it pain. A lot of pain, in fact. He advanced just as more demons streaked out of the church

"Oh this just keeps gettin' better and better." He sheathed one gun, and drew forth the longsword, which seemed to have a demonic skeleton for a hilt. He grinned, having been itching for a fight. "I knew I was gonna like this job."

The battle was going on in the church when the girl entered. Her dark curly hair a mess. She was dressed in simple clothing. She was here because it was her duty. To watch over these churches.

She looked at the demon and said "And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered." The words of the holy book blazed out of her lips. "As is written in the holiest of books I say it here. Begone from this house of God! Let this ground be hallowed once again in the name of the host and the One."

A serenity came over the girl's face as these words were spoken. The serenity of the angelic host in a house of the One, serving their duty to the One.

He laughed “this vessel was prepared from birth and thus was the stain set creating to crate a hollow space the seed planted and thus the demon slept” from hells version of the bible he laughed. But the bullets hurt like weighs in his body they weighed his soul down like an anchor. He moved slowly the demon inside of him was growing tired it would have to sleep soon. He moved slowly over towards the woman the blinding rage fading from his mind like a haze. “lady I need some sleep so you can move or be removed“ his own instincts were taking over thoughts of the manifesting of less then a hunter victim maner. "so preacher squad whats youre name"

"My name is unimportant," the woman child said as she stepped aside, "Go and know that the divine will strike thee if you enter and blaspheme another of these sacred houses."

As the demon possesed passed her she brushed lightly against him leaving one gray feather on his clothing. She seemed to ignore the man as she approached the police officer.

he felt something but already the demon was alseep and he could not make sense of the tickle. he got into his car and drove of toward the aprtment he shared with no one. the man who had lived in it had been brushed aside like so many others.

"Mind explaining to me what the hell is-" Before she could finish to the white haired man before her, another woman stepped from one of the churches. Confused, Mik took a tighter hold of her gun... but the woman's speech seemed to have a bit of an effect on the maniac who attacked her car. Well, if that was the case...

She slowly lowered her weapon, still a bit leery of everything that had happened in such a short amount of time. Her arm felt strange.. She hadn't noticed that before. Glancing down, she found the sleeve of her shirt torn, a large splotch of blood soaked into the fabric. When had that happened?

Her head hurt like hell, too. She was certain that she hadn't been hit there- no, this was from the repetative screamings of Montague. Some protecting demon HE was turning out to be... More like he wanted her to run and hide at the first sound of trouble. She had warned him before; she was a cop. That wasn't going to happen.

And speaking of which...
"OK, someone mind explaining to me what the hell just happened?"

"The wheel is turning again officer Reskev," The girl said with an odd bird like tilt to her head, "Just like it did two years ago. I'm sorry I am causing your companion pain, but I had to be rid of the other possesed one."

Maggie continued to approach the shocked officer. "They are trying to breach the gate again." She got within arms reach, "Allow me to ease your pain officer Reskev."

Rahl raised an eyebrow, watching the young angelic as she stepped out of the church and quoted the Book. He wasn't surprised when the power of the Holy manifested, flooding the church and blasting the demons that had been about to attack them all. He was, however, caught offguard by his own reaction to it. He had winced slightly, feeling heavier as a result of the power affecting his Devil side. He stopped, then slowly sheathed the sword, and holstered his other pistol, before turning to look at the young woman. "You're the possessed officer, aren't ya? You don't want to go in there. Not right now, anyways. In fact, I myself might wait a few hours before retrieving whatever it was my client wanted."

He stretched, and did his best to work the kinks out of his muscles from the Holy power. Then he leaned against a broken wall, and closed his eyes.

Lust contnued to watch the little shoving contest going on down on the street, laughing to himself when thhe posesed male left with its tail between its legs "pitiful, it worms like him that made me leave hell" he turned his atention to the newcomer with a familiar scent "smells like heaven" his urges acted up again and mad him punch a hole in the concreate wall besde him. he forcced himself to calm down and pay atention to the coversation they were having down below.

"They are trying to breach the gate again."

Fear overtook Lust, his power flared and anything not tied down started to slowly rise from the floor <if the gate opens then they wll make me go back!>

An hour later he woke in a dark alley the floor plans of a church in his mind he arrived quickly. The door slammed against him trying to seal him in to the stone vault lined with iron god anti demon iron. He thrust one of his axes it would hold for one and only one person. The next door was wood he locked it inside he knew he would find the bait sprinkled like bread crumbs. He moved slowly the men at the table turned bang …bang…bang. All three men fell forward the men in the walls were already dead or sleeping a simple spell. He sat on the table like a thrown waiting for anyone foolish enough to follow him. The echoes of the foot falls would vibrate the door the first one through would be the only one through and would be sealed with him. He smiled falling into a trance time time if only he had more time.

"The gate?" Mikaela looked up at the church behind her, frowning at the broken belltower. "Shit. They're trying to restart the whole thing all over again... And I'm guessing big fella is here to clear the way." She paused as the other woman came closer to her, hastily raising her hands. "Wo-ah, hang on just a sec.. I'm not too sure about this..."

The sound of sirens crossing the city caught her attention. She'd have to explain this to the arriving officers. That was going to be a bit of a task. What was she going to say- Oh, it wasn't anything major. Just a demonic freak ripping up my car, killing a priest, and oh yeah, trying to reopen the pathway to hell. Who wants donuts?

Another thought clicked for her. If they were trying to come back, they were most likely going to come after Montague... who was still residing within her. Looked like she was going to need to sleep with an eye open. If demons like the one who attacked her were coming through with just the broken bell, she didn't want to think about what would happen if they actually managed the ritual she interrupted two years ago.

Rahl laughed, and shook his head. Then he stood up slowly, and walked past them both, heading into the church. He intended to find the object he was looking for and hopefully be gone before any more police interfered. However, he stopped as he approached the body of the priest. Something about it seemed wrong to him. He stared at it for several long moments, then drew one handgun, kissed the barrel, and then fired a single round into the breast of the priest. Then he leaned down and checked the body. He frowned, not seeming to find what should have been there, then located it in a pocket inside a black cloth bag. He withdrew the cross, wincing slightly as he touched it, and then put the chain around the priest's neck, arranging it with the barrel of the gun.

He watched the face of the priest relax, and then nodded slowly, before crossing the threshold of the church. True, inside the church he was weaker than he was outside, but he still had the strength of an average guy. Sure enough, he saw something that classified as 'you will know it when you see it'. He picked up the very ancient relic, and put it in a cloth sack, then walked out of the church. He breathed a sigh of relief, before heading down the steps of the church and starting for the alley he had stepped out of before.
