Better from a male or female perspective?

I've only recently started publishing my stories. I write them for my own kicks rather than anyone else. As I'm writing this, I have 4 stories approved, and one pending. 3 of the approved are from a male perspective and one of the approved is from a female perspective, as is the pending submission. They all follow the same theme -- accidental impregnation stemming from a fling.

While my stories are for me, and just submitted here to hopefully help others, I do wonder if I'm hitting the mark in terms of believability when writing as either gender; factual flaws (morning after pill, abortion, etc) aside.

I find it easier to write from a male perspective in terms of the fuck and flee aspect, but easier to write from a woman's perspective in terms of the sensuality and emotion. However, I've no idea which I'm writing better as. For instance; Am I too careless or ignorant when channeling the male perspective, and likewise am I too wordy when journaling the female side of things?

My submissions lurk at: http://www.literotica.com/stories/memberpage.php?uid=996881&page=submissions so let me know what you think

If i wrote from the male perspective, I'd feel the urge to scratch myself. ;)

I think you should explore both if you like writing it, and not worry about doing things wrong.

Whether the male or female perspective works depends on the story. You already have a good grasp of what works from each side (fuck & flee vs. sensuality), so all you need to do is further consider how the perspectives are different and which works better for your style. In my experience, women are more about emotion and companionship when it comes to sex. They have to connect with their partners and accept them, not just be attracted- although that certainly helps. They are also more prone to emotional extremes, and some of them go for the challenge and the chase. Men, on the other hand, are more "you attract me, therefore I want you, that's all I need." They see a hot woman, they will pursue her. Maybe they'll flee afterwards, or maybe they'll be decent and stay with her because they like her & want more of what she can give. Men also get jealous easier than women sometimes. I'm sure there are psychology books that can give you more detail, but I can't really name titles. Perhaps someone with more experience reading such books?

My advice to you is to think about the story you want to write. Which character interests you more, male or female? Which seems to best illustrate what you want the reader to get out of the story? Which seems to illustrate the story's themes, if any? When you find the best combination of all these that you can work with, then you have your narrator(s). And whether they're male or female will just be a story detail, nothing more.

We have occassional 'guess the sex' snippet comps on AH, maybe we are due for another. I'd organise but I'm busy (lazy) :D

That sounds like fun! How does it work?

XXX word submissions on a theme sent to the organiser who posts them anonymously 1 to Xx over a set time scale (7 days) and subsequently posts a list of competitors (scambled) for voters to guess the writer - of course Lit pen names can be confusing e.g. Corylea may be female and neonlyte may be male ;)

You can always write them from both perspectives--and then slap them together (or not). It's a good writing exericise and it often leads to a great story.
