But what exactly qualifies as bestiality?

Specifically, can I write a scene where a dog licks a woman down below?
I don't intend for there to be any intercourse; the licking is as far as I want it to go.

Nope.

Any sexual contact with a "dumb animal" -- or with a shapechanger if the scene take out of context is indistiguishable from sexual contact with a "dumb animal."

Or a werewolf or a space alien that looks like a dog. Any kind of mythical beastie that resembles a dog and acts like one, but you have to be sure to make the nature of the beast clear.

Rather than censor your story, you should write it the way you want and take it to another site. Literotica isn't the only game in town. Sites like ASSTR will allow you to post your stories with no censorship.

In my opinion, it's better to be honest with yourself and true to your stories than water them down to meet somebody else's standards of what is right and wrong.

A while back, I wrote a virtual reality scene that implied Jessica Alba would be getting it on with a dolphin. Before I posted it, I checked with Laurel. She politely declined to let it through, so I rewrote it as a guy in a dolphin suit getting it on with Jessica Alba. (It was a really low budget virtual reality simulation.) Bestiality - that is to say sex with a regular flesh-and-blood animal - is not allowed on this site. Pretty much anything else goes though. In fact there is an entire category called 'Non-Human' (and 'Sci-Fi/Fantasy' and 'Erotic Horror' both cover some of the same ground as well). So while sex with a dog or horse or snake or whatever isn't allowed in a story you could still do:

* Sex with a mythical creature like a centaur or minotaur.
* Sex with a shape-shifter that takes the form of an animal like a werewolf.
* Sex with an intelligent talking animal because its magical.
* Sex with an alien that is TECHNICALLY another species.
* Sex with a human turned into an animal by magic (the frog prince thing).
* Sex with a robot or hologram that happens to look like an animal.
* Sex with a human who thinks he is an animal and acts like one.
* Sex with an inanimate object that has the physical shape of an animal.
* Etc.

I think you take your chances. And I think if you try to scheme around a prohibition, you aren't fooling anyone.

But, by all means, go for it if you want.

I personally don't see the difference between fucking a unicorn and fucking a sheep. (Not that I'd do either, mind you.)

I don't think it would be acceptable if it made any sense. Before the dog did such a thing, you would have to let the readers know what was about to happen, and that would disqualify.
