Best way to get votes / reads for a previously written story?

When I started writing again I created this profile. I have only submitted on thing with this profile, but I have created several more stories to go along with it. How can I get more viewers to read / vote / feedback my story?

You can write to the categories that get heavy reading/voting/feedback relative to others (e.g., incest, Romance, loving wives).

You can enter the contests, which tend to get more reading/voting/feedback--with the hope of establishing a larger general readership from that.

You can post stories frequently, so that your name pops up on the "new" list frequently. This might build a regular readership for you--if your stories are liked.

You can post a lot on the forum and thus create a big group of chums and/or enemies who will vote/feedback your stories just because they are written by you and whether or not they read the stories.

You can post to this forum category in third person saying that you can't find a favorite story and then give enough of the story particulars that maybe someone else will post the link for your story and give it new life. And if no one else posts the link, you can always come back later and say you found the story and post the link. You also post that you've read this wonderful story by some other writer and post a link to it. These seem to be favorite ploys here.

In general, though, stories here are just like books in the open market. They have a shelf life--here, it's usually for the seven days it's carried on the new list--and then after that you'll get a trickle of reads forever, and maybe a few votes and comments--but not many. Interestingly, though, it's been my experience that reading continues, even if voting and comments don't--and that you get a lot of reads here compared to most other sites.

Thanks for those tips. I am not into the third party thing, maybe I will just post a link here one day.

That would be the straightforward approach. There's a permanent thread at the top of the category forum where you can announce you new stories. Good to hear you are back to writing and posting here.

If you take a look at some of the other threads in this forum, you'll see the people who generally provide public feedback here. If you're interested in that, simply start a thread with a link to your story.

If you want more general readership of an older story, my advice would be to write a new one. If a reader really likes your stuff, there's a good chance that he or she will go to your page to find out what else you've written.

Welcome!

Welcome, indeed.

IMHO, I think Marsh is right (he always says he is :D ).

Publicity is the key to opening the views/votes/feedback door.

Until your name is well known enough to get your horde of fans to click on your latest oeuvre, you have to work a bit. Put your story - with a link - here for feedback. As well as comments, you will probably find some lurkers have read your story. And maybe your other stuff. (I agree with you that the third party stuff doesn't appeal).

No harm in putting a begging comment for votes and comments at the end of your story - can only help.

As well as attracting more attention, entries in a contest get put at the top of that day's stories so consider joining in one of those.

Just remember to use an alt if you go this route. :)

Yep, that's what I meant by third person. Oh, and if you can use an alt that you've used to post on the forum before, that's more effective. It seems so obvious it's you when it's post number 1. :D

I really don't go for these 'third party' games. For me it's just abusing the etiquette of the site.

You write this as if you have some doubts...

My stories with the biggest reads...

...or "hits" I should say are "My Sweet Sister Sasha" and "Shopping Mall Hottie".

Think keywords...I'm naming every story I write from now on "My Sister the Hottie" :D

Marsh *kneeling and prostrating herself* I KNOW

Anyway, you'd only send TK and SW round with the nightsticks if I expressed a doubt. :nana:  :nana:
