With as many of them that are out there, I cant tell you which one is the best,but here are my favorite sites if you would like to look.
My personal friend is long and pink and makes a nice vibrating sound. I have not used what you mentioned though.

Eggs...
Eggs work very well. In my opinion the vibrations seem alot stronger. Probably because they are just as strong as in the bigger toys, but they are all contained in a small egg. If your looking for something with strong vibration, you can't go wrong with an egg. As for vibrators/dildos... I have no clue, sorry.

Try one of the longer ones with a slightly curved tip....heavenly! The eggs don't seem to have as much vibration as the longer shaped vibrators. Waterproof is nice too....my next purchase will be a butterfly with a remote control...just think of the fun you could have with that! the mall, the movie theater...hmmmmmm...lol.

Can anyone recommend a vibrator which provides plenty of uumph but creates little noise?
My wife loves her toys but with 3 young kids and thin walls she can't relax as she's worried she'll hear a tapping at the door and a little voice asking "what's that noise?"
The eggs are good from a noise perspective but there are times when you need something different, so she tells me.
