Since we're on TV shows, I was a huge fan of Stargate: SG-1. From characterizations, writing, plots, and even comedy, that series had everything. Richard Dean Anderson did a great job of making me forget all about his MacGuyver days. Amanda Tapping was and still is hot while making me believe she was a world-class scientist, and Christopher Judge was the walking epitome of the strong, silent type.

Now that the series is over, all I have is 'Heroes' . . . *sigh*

Lord, yes. And in "The Seven Samurai." And in "The High and the Low." He's been damned good in absolutely everything I've seen him in. I particularly admired his work in "The High and the Low" given that it was so far out of the comic vein of the others.

I was going to put Seven Samurai, but there was so much excellent casting in that one. I actually saw both Seven Samurai and Sanjuro in a class in college on Japanese History. The professor had a great line about Sanjuro, he said that Mifune was "at his itchy scratchy best."

As for Jennifer Connelly,... What can I say, that's the movie where I fell in love with her. Well, crush at least.

IMDB has Carpenter quoted as saying that the only heroic act that Jack Burton does is killing LoPan, but that isn't true. He tried to help Wang when he was grabbed by thnder, he put himself in harms way multiple times, tried to go head to head with Wind, dropped a statue on Lightning, rescued all those women, and so on and so on...

This is a compliment [sic] to the "Worst Casting of all Time" thread. I want to know what movies you feel had perfectly--or near-perfectly cast actors playing certain roles.

Maybe a good time for a homophone discussion? Writers need to know this stuff. Pay attention, class.

compliment: (Noun) statement of praise: something said to express praise or approval

So, in the above example, a "complement" to the aforementioned thread is a heretofore undiscovered addition to the already ongoing discussion, whereas a "compliment" would be a slavish adoration of the views already espoused.

"Complement" is the correct choice. Back to our regular programming.

Actually, EVERYONE in that movie was perfectly cast. From Danny Trejo to John Voight, they all seemed like they weren't characters. It was like these people lived somewhere in the seedy underbelly of LA. Everytime I see Heat I want to go back to LA. lol Don't know why.
