Been searching for this short story forever. Does not have chapters, one long consecutive piece. This artist best friend is abducted by her roommate/friend who's engaged to some alien royalty. There are these bracelets that if you give to someone else, it means you're married. Rival alien prince tricks lady into giving him her bracelet so she can get through the doors. The rival aliens planet is dying without him being married and also he has valued metal resources. Some kinda war going on Bc he legally/kinda adbucts/marries the artist chick. The artist is afraid of the spider/cat like cleaning creatures on the spaceship ride there. Can't remember much besides that.
