That's an interesting question and I'm a little surprised there aren't already a lot of answers (there's a whole LE category for that, right?) and I caused me to reflect that I probably don't read a lot of stories where masturbation is the main focus.
The last story I read from a female POV was heavy on feelings and arousal; IIRC she declines to masturbate alone, but he fingers her to an orgasm. That doesn't really fit, does it?

Which is a long way of saying that maybe solo masturbation isn't so hot by itself? If I were haunted by something, I think it would either be that the MC was so turned on that they tried something new (anal?). Or the broader context of a kink that turns me on, like unstoppable lust, exhibitionism, power dynamics, etc. In my story above, Maggie is turned on by seeing BDSM porn and then fantasizing about her ex-husband. Or, (a hypothetical example) something like a wife being "forced" to masturbate (or being unable to stop herself) while watching her husband fuck her sister/frenemy/bff/manager/etc but she's not allowed to cum until X happens. Or she's commanded to ruin her orgasm.
If there was a story where "Sally" was aroused, rubbed one out, and that was the whole story, then no matter how detailed or artfully the maturation was written, I doubt that I'd be that interested.
