I have a thumping headache today...other than popping pills (which I've done already) what's the best way to get rid of it? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Hmmm...contradicting advice! If I have coffee I won't sleep. But if I sleep I can't stay up and waste time on lit...

Stop staring at your screen, get out and get some fresh air. Neck massage. Try to sit/walk properly, tension in shoulder and neck muscles can result in headaches.
Drink plenty of water or natural juices. Have some coffee or cola.
If its happening often check your pillow and talk to your doctor.

Forgot one, a wet cold towel on the forehead, that one helps me usually.

Sitting too long in front of the computer is the guaranteed path to a headache for me.

I second StrayKat on get up, get some exercise, a hot bath and a massage.

Thank you! Thankfully it's not a regular thing, maybe I'm just dehydrated, water should do the trick!

A neck massage sounds like the best option though!

A lot of water. Many times headaches are a sign of dehydration. Coffee will not help with that.

Getting your eyes off a computer/phone or any electronic device we are all glued to these days helps as well.

ETA I did not see someone beat me to it. Oh, well good intentions anyway,

Water and sleep. Just in case you hadn't read that enough already in this thread.

Everyone that's telling me to go to sleep...you're just trying to get rid of me right?

Hands and/or feet in warm water and ice pack (frozen peas) on back of neck.

Might need helping hand. or to learn over the sink and just do hands.

I'd say a nice long hot shower. Something to eat--for my migraines I usually try some sort of protein.
God bless endorphins. There's irony in so many women using headaches as an excuse to avoid sex--nothing helps my migraines as much as an orgasm.
