The man tries too hard. I mean really. I'm easily entertained, there's no denying that, but any movie outside of Something About Mary that I've seen that's he's hogged the starring role in, I pretty much loathed it.

The man has no sense of humor. He's like listening to Whitney trying to shove her colon through her nose during that last bit in "The Greatest Love of All."

Mystery Men rocked, but then again, I love Janine and the guy from Fargo.

So, when is the Hollywood Dog Pound picking Stiller up and putting him in the retired-cause-you-suck comedian's home?

Oh I just love you for that...he's actualy a very sexy guy but on the talent scale he just needs to get some.

Janine is a goddess...

But Mystery men was just a bad movie...

Nothing like te comic book.

Ben Stiller is just not funny No shit-how do some people get to be "movie stars?"

I'd let him eat crackers in bed, if he ever got the chance.

Janine as the Bowler. She was fabulous.

I'm easily entertained. :)

He's amusing at best. Certainly not a movie star. He looks like a monkey-boy. Probably a talented writer. Owen Wilson has saved his last 3 movies ("Meet the Parents", "Royal Tennenbaums" and "Zoolander")

I don't know... He isn't my favorite actor or anything, but I certainly don't loathe him like Muffin. I like his style -- the kind of flowing, stumbling speech that I think he does quite well. His facial expressions are interesting, too. Nothing like Jim Carey's, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I don't really expect him to get an award for his comedy performances, but I don't mind having him around once in a while.

I loved Mystery Men.

PeeWee Herman was my favorite one out of the movie though, although the young guy that is usually on Nickelodeon would be my number 2 choice.

(He would be the one who thought he could be invisible.)

Lol I might have liked PeeWee's character more if the sight of his face didn't make me want to vomit... :p

I agree with the "trying too hard" idea. I really liked that picture with Jenna Elfman and Edward Notron--about the priest and the rabbi.

But then his dad is not known for his subtle style--mom's much better (but she's irish, and I'm prejudice).

He's the celebrity I've been told I look like the most...which is only a few times. His Tom Cruise impression is funny...but he's not Jon Stewart funny.

Ben Stiller's show, "The Ben Stiller Show", was very, very funny. It had him and Janeane Garofalo and Andy Dick and some other people and it was hilarious. It ran for like 6 episodes on Fox, I think, and it was good.

It was before they all hit it big. Dick wasn't a total brain-dead loon, just a moderate one. Garofalo hadn't patented her hip-smart-ugly-girl schtick. I taped a marathon of the shows they had about a year ago, have to revisit it now...

Oh, and speaking of Janeane Garofalo, am I alone in thinking she's really, really pretty? I mean like, REALLY pretty. Every time I see her interviewed she complaining about how fat she is and how she would never be considered for the roles that uberbabes like Gwyneth Paltrow get, and I think, man, she's really pretty. Is it me?

I thought he was funny in happy Gimore as that nursing home guy:
"You can have a big warm glass of SHUT THE HELL UP."

I agree his Ben Stiller Show was too good to last. Much too smart for network TV....

I like his dramatic roles slightly more.
Permanent Midnight and Zero Effect come to mind. Your Friends and Neighbors was a pretty raw and bare performance as well.....

That was Keeping the Faith, and it was a really good movie. But I want to screw the pants off of Edward Norton (especially Edward Norton dressed as a priest) so I may be biased.

:D

I actually thought Mystery Men was pretty lame.

Just saw Zoolander - it was fun, not great. It had some laugh out loud moments.

Keeping the Faith was excellent.

Meet the Parents was hilarious.

Something About Mary rocked.

I cannot believe so many people don't like Ben Stiller.

I watched his show from the start and was completely destroyed when they cut it. I think he's funny as hell.

In "Meet The Parents" where he did the karate moves to the camera? Omygod.. I thought that was funny as hell.

Stiller just hasn't hit his stride yet. Or maybe he's just the type of comedian that you love or hate? I don't know. He hits my funnybone.

"There's Something About Mary" scene where his manly "gel" winds up in Cameron Diaz's hair. It made me just about wet my pants laughing.

Same movie when he got his dick stuck in his zipper in front of his date's family. Call me juvinile, but I peed them again.

I also liked him in the "Meet The Parents" scenes with DeNiro.

I agree that he can be a pathetic clown.

Somewhere in my archive I have the very first Ben Still show. Loved it, great die hard parody in it.

Something about him as a movieactor leaves me wanting. I can usually laugh at most of his movies, but it becuase of the situations involved, not necessarily him.

Kind of like watching an Adam Sandler movie and then wondering... why the hell did I do that?

I agree with you, Muffy. When my Dad and I go to the movies, they have those opinionated questions, and, one of them was, "Who's funnier-Jim Careey or Ben Stiller?" And, we both said Jim Carrey. It should be noted that my Dad hates Jim Carrey, so, for him to agree really says something for Ben Stiller's talent,(or, lack of, in this case.)

I think it's like a federal law, or at least a Hollywood law, that if your parents are in show business, and are semi funny, then you willat some point whether true or not, be deemed funny.

Any one here own a Limp Bizkit cd?
On the Chocolate Starfish cd, there is a continual running loop of a guy sounding like he is an interviewer trying to be "hip" with the band..but he just sounds like a complete dork.

If anyone has it..listen to it and tell me it’s not Ben Stiller.

People named numerous movies in which he either wrote, produced or directed, as well as starred in..that are just hilarious movies.

Btw..remember Reality Bites?
