Sometime during the night between Sunday the 27th of August and Monday the 28th of August, my cat Mia slipped out through the bedroom window that I had left slightly open due to the heat. She hasn't been seen since.

I've put up notes all over the neighborhood. I've posted ads in two different newspapers. I've talked to no less than TWO psychic mediae. Nothing.

I've been told that she's in the area about 1 kilometer away from home. She's indoors, most likely taken cared of by an elderly couple. These people have a) not seen the notes nor read the newspapers, or b) read the notes and/or the newspapers but decided not to give a damned because they want to keep my kitty for themselves.

I'm worried as hell, I cry myself to sleep every other night, and I've gotten a cold from climbing mountains and trekking through forests in pouring rain.

M says that all I can do now is wait. I'm terrible at waiting patiently. Remember how worried I was when Jay disappeared? Well, I care more about one whisker on Mia's cute nose than I ever cared for all of Jay, even when I was crazy about him.

I need virtual hugs and sympathy, please. And some virtual chocolate and other comfort foods wouldn't hurt either. :(

Those furry little things get under our skin, don't they? And become members of the family.

Hugs to you, and best hopes for Mia.

Dam, that blows.

A :rose: for the well being and safe return of Mia.

Svenska,

I am so sorry to hear this. I know how it feels and there is very little that is worse.

I hope for you and Mia that she does find her way back home soon.

<hugs> to Svenska and Mia.

Much, much luck. :rose:

You know, there is a stray cat hanging out across the street. You don't suppose Mia stowed away on on a SAS flight do you? :)

I'll check to see if she meows in Swedish.

I have had, and do have fur children. I have suffered through having them disappear. I have always, to date, had happy endings, and I pray that you have one too.

I've travelled all over town to check every vague clue I've gotten from people calling about my notes and ads... this might be a little too far-fetched, though.

Thanks anyway. I need a smile, too.

Have you tried calling the Vets in town? They sometimes end up being the repository for lost animals and those who have been injured.

Hoping for you, luv

I dreamed tonight that she was back, and that I held her and kissed her and told her I love her. I dreamed that she just walked into my bedroom out of nowhere, jumped up into the bed and walked over my stomach up to my face and purred, happy to be home.
When I woke up, I had to look around to make sure it was a dream... unfortunately, it was. But it was very vivid.

I haven't tried the vets yet, no. Thanks for the advice. It's worth a shot.

If a Swedish cat wanders into my neighborhood, you'll be the first to know.

I think I've found her - but she's not home yet. I got a call from a woman who had seen a cat matching Mia's picute not far from my house. I walked over there and saw my Mia sunbathing in the grass outside a house - well, either Mia or a clone of her.

Unfortunately, I couldn't catch her. She got scared when a human approached her (me, but she's literally a scaredy-cat) and so she ran under the house and hid there. I tried to lure her out for 3 hours, but in vain. Finally I took my shoes off and walked home barefoot, to give her a scent trail to follow.

Svenska,

Go back in the mornign if you can. Bring some of her favorite cat food.

Set it out and be patient. If the owners of the house come out and ask you why you're there be polite and explain. (If they are animal lovers they will understand.) If she's still there she most likely will come up to you.

Remember she's now in a strange environment and is scared. It will take time.

I'm hoping that you get her back.

Cat

Went back there this morning and called for her, but couldn't see her anywhere - not that I thought I would, because I noticed yesterday already that she had left her hideout under the red house because she got frightened of the flashlight I brought with me. I walked around, calling for her, and giving out my number to people left and right, asking them to call me if they saw her. One woman said she had seen a cat matching my description run by yesterday afternoon, which fits with the time-frame I'd made up for what time Mia must have left the red house and run through the neighbourhood.
She's out there somewhere... I repeated the barefoot-walk to enhance the scent trail for Mia to follow home. She might be confused about whether or not she recognized my voice or not, but she knows that her nose won't lie to her. Hopefully she'll WANT to come home, so she won't feel cool with her new, free life!
I got a call later in the day, saying that a cat matching my description had been seen by the sea-side, (This is a coastal town.) Down there I went, and walked the beach promenade calling for her. At one point I thought I heard a small cat calling out, so I climbed out into the wilderness and trekked through the forest calling her name. After a couple of minutes, a middle-aged woman showed up and helped me search - she had cats of her own and knew the pain of losing one - but we couldn't find Mia. After about one hour, we decided that the sound we heard wasn't really a cat; it was the combination of the wind and the trees that imitated the whining, peep-ing sound. The forest was completely cat-less.
I got another call tonight, but it wasn't her either; Mia doesn't wear a necklace.
I'm focusing on the positive facts right now, to keep my mood up. She's alive and unharmed, and not VERY close from home. And there are lots of nice and helpful people in this area who are willing to make a phone call if they see her.

The night between Saturday and Sunday, two drunk teenage boys saw the poster I had put up and decided to have a little fun. They both sent me one text message each, one saying
Hi,
Just wanted to let you know that your cat is captured and lying in my fridge. Come over if you want to have a cup of coffee and a slice of cat.
and the second
Yoo! Your cat is in my freezer!

Where to start describing how stupid that was... I'm a journalist, for crying out loud. I'm TRAINED for snooping out names, addresses, phone numbers and other facts. Plus, I'm one angry cat-loving woman. I'm ME - you know me! ABS' Swedish pitbull!
It took me 10 minutes to get hold of their names, addresses, and phone numbers. I called their parents.

One of the numbers led to a young man who claimed to have been home asleep on Saturday night, a story which his mother confirmed. I asked him how come his number had been used to send me that message, and he said that he had lend out his phone to a guy he didn't really knew, he only knew his first name, that was all... Yeah, right! 'Cause we ALL lend out expensive phones to people we don't know to use when they go out drinking, while we stay home sleeping..!
However, since I couldn't proof that he was lying, I simply adviced him to inform this person-whom-he-did-not-know that it was NOT a very funny joke.
The guy sounded scared enough, so I hung up and phoned the mother of the second one. She was outraged to hear what her son had done, especially since they had cats of their own, and she could relate to the feeling of having one missing for 2 weeks. I could tell from her voice that this boy was going to get a serious talking-to as soon as she got home, and probably she would even contact the mother of this boy who had borrowed the first one's phone, in case he does exist, I'm still having my doubts aboput it, but hey, the mother would probably get to the bottom of that little lie.

I left it that and decided not to call the police and report them for phone harassment - unless they're stupid enought o try that shit on me again.

I like it when you fuck me, but DON'T TRY TO FUCK WITH ME! :catroar:
