Maybe. It's something I just don't understand, though. Writing by committee or thinking you need to write but needing to live off of someone else's creativity from the very beginning. *shakes head*

Story ideas is such a weird place. I've yet to find anything I'd specifically write but have, on occasion, found things in the area of what I might write.
It's like a request hotline, idea validator, and share my fetish cult all in one.
There'd gold in dem der hills but be prepared to move a shit ton of muck to find it.

I think the confusion lies in how much you stay to the exact specs of the concept.
I'm inspired by stories I read here all the time. Mine is so vastly different you really couldn't link the two.
Technically though, the spark wasn't in my head before the story I read.

Well sure, but seeing something that sparks you and asking someone to spark you with something are two totally different fire starters.

Some of us old schoolers can easily build a roaring blaze from a couple of sticks. And we enjoy that as part of the whole process.
Others need gallons of lighter fluid and a Zippo.
Whatever gets ya cooking I suppose.

Euphony, I agree with you and especially your last post. I started a story from something that had actually happened to me. Nothing happened beyond me getting flashed IRL. I started the story and hit a wall I had no idea how to continue. It languished for several months. I happened to read a comment on the Fetish and Sexuality board and I knew I had the bridge I needed. I finished it in just a few days.
I must have done OK as the story hung around 4.49(sob) for several months until it was knocked down to a 4.47.
The thing that may be interesting is I had no real interest in that particular thread. I suppose I was bored. I really don't remember for sure.

I can tell im ready to write... i have ideas in mind... just not good specifics. most of my passed stories were sparked by something.

I merely mentioned microwaves because I figured she probably worked in an office and a little microwave incident would be a lot easier to explain than an all out conflagration on her desk.
