Whenever I'm with a guy I'm dating (or my best friend)and it's late, we're both drifing off and about to go to sleep.. I raise my head and whisper.. "Tell me a bedtime story". It is so cool to hear a guy make up a story and tell it as you lie your head on his chest listening to the rumble of his voice against your ear and the smell of his body tickling your nostrils, the feel of him so solid and sure beneath you. Smiling as you listen to his imagination at work in the story unfolding before you.

Have you ever told anyone other than your children a bedtime story?

No I haven't but ohmigod the thought just blew my mind. I know exactly who I would like to tell me one and I know with some of the emails I get he would be amazing at it.

Sorry hon I get IM's and posts from you but no emails, besides I know what you think of my emailing friend. You use that awful "O" word to describe him.

btw "O"kay? Is that it Juliangel? (Now I'm wondering who her email friend is!)

No in this case "O" is for old. He has a son the same age I am, 31, and trust me from the pictures I have seen nothing looks old. As for who it is only he and I know that but I did meet him through this site.

My sweetie isn't a story teller, but he has a beautiful singing voice & will sing to me when I am having a bad night. It never fails to help me fall asleep. The idea of a bedtime story is interesting, however, have to see what we can do about that.

YES

Actually my three year old tells the best bed time stories. They always involve Superman and various other cartoon characters saving sometimes known people and sometimes vast metropolises from bad guys. The great thing is he tells me these stories when we're snuggling as he falls asleep. So he's laying as close to me as possible and he has one arm thrown around my neck and his other thumb in his mouth so as he falls deeper asleep his starts talking less and sucking more until there isn't even a mumble. As a matter of fact, I just woke up after falling asleep beside him from our story time.

Cheri.. that's so sweet!

When my sister and her son lived with me, my nephew was five and my son was four. We'd all get in bed together and ask them to tell us a bedtime story. They'd start telling the one about the 3 Bears and making high pitched voices for Goldilocks and getting the storyline so confused.. arguing over what came next.. my sister and I would be laughing so hard we'd be crying.

Have you ever heard the taped version of the 3 Bears with Holly Hunter as the narrator? Or the Briar Patch with Danny Glover narrating? Those taped stories are GREAT. I've entertained my son in the car on long drives with those tapes over and over. I highly recommend the one with Holly Hunter, though.

I sometimes have my husband tell me a "bedtime story" about something that happened in his childhood. No fair repeating a story he already told me. It helps me get to know more about him, AND his deep baritone voice soothes me, makes me feel comforted, and helps lull me to sleep. It's a GREAT way to sleep when restless and wound-up from a tough day at work.

I'm a huge story teller...I love making up stories--or telling true ones. I've done it with my nieces, and even with a certain guy, on occasion. They always start, as all good stories should, "once upon a time...."

I'm always after people to tell me bed time stories too! I even still try to talk my mom into it! :D But the best ones are from guys. I once had a guy tell me a story about a beautiful princess trapped by a mean ogre and this hadsome (and well endowed) prince that saved her. :) It was a very sweet way to say, your boyfriend is a jerk and I really like you.
