How important is beauty?

I have an old photo of a woman I knew for many years. She died 25 years ago. The photo is from the 60s when she participated in a nude beauty contest when we were 18 or so. She wasn't gorgeous but I found her attractive. But then none of the contestants impressed me as gorgeous.

I recently read that only look hot in bed or in close proximity to sex.

I agree.

Beauty? What is beauty?

Beauty is one thing to one person and something else to another. Beauty is not just the outside appearance or image but the inside appearance or image. As much as a person may have a talent for creating things, furniture, paintings, food, or clothes et al, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so true.

When I worked for a famous modeling agency as their business manager, I came in close contact with lots of beautiful people. We had more than 2,200 signed models under contract, men, women, young, old, shapely, and obese.

The camera didn't love the models who I thought were the most beautiful in person. Oddly enough, it was always those models with larger features, foreheads, eyes, noses, and chins that translated their beauty better on film.

An interesting aside, one never sees these beautiful people out and about unless you're rich. An interesting aside, when you see someone so beautiful, whether man or woman, all you can do is to stare. Tongue tied, you have nothing to say.

"Hi, how are you? God you're so fucking beautiful...mister."

Yet, some of the most beautiful people I've ever seen, on very rare occasion, weren't even models.

Much like that song by Sammy Kershaw, She Don't Know She's Beautiful, those are the rare gems that you must mine before an agent or photographer ruins them for life.

I think pretty is what your eyes see and beauty is what your heart sees. I seen some women that didn't really look pretty but they were sexy all the same. I saw a girl in a porno movie an old boyfriend had and I could find one thing about her that looked pretty at all but I wanted to curl up in bed with her anyway cause there was something about her my eyes weren't seein' and stuff. I think that's the part love comes from and stuff.

So . . . I'm strolling down the street on a bright, warm summer's day. Walking towards me is a stunning mature woman, perfect in every way. She pauses briefly to light a cigarette . . . what an ugly old hag!
