Chinese black rice. It's actually a dark indigo-purple, almost too pretty to eat. Almost.

You do realize the Chinese use food coloring on their surplus white rice to cover the dark spots, then sell it to merchants at inflated prices, don't you?

As long as none of them are moving.

(My dad has refused to eat rice since his tour in Vietnam.)

Is it leaded or unleaded food coloring?

It is pretty, I had a package once. I don't recall as it tasted as good to me as regular homegrown wild rice or brown rice though.
