. .and ladies, as applicable:

A little advice (or advise for those that no habla 'Murican) por favor.

I'm three weeks into a beard. I've always been able to grow a reasonable semblance in two, and usually shaved it off by then, or for the couple of years when I did the goatee, trimmed down to about a couple of weeks, at least on the mustache.

Back when I grew hair it was brown with a nearly black beard. It was course and curly and tended to curve in and irritate the hell out of me. As I have gone from salt and pepper to nearly all salt, the white hairs are straight and are encouraging the now oddly reddish pepper to behave.

Which brings me to my question what do you recommend for training or grooming a beard.. cruising that section of the store I came up with Cremo Beard and Scruff which I purchase cuz it is should me that it was Astonishingly Superior and I am kinda scruffy at the moment. "Ceder Forest Blend" which makes my bandana smell like it's fresh from a cedar hope chest.

It's basically hair conditioner, I think.

Are there other, better classes omustachioed? Brand recommendations?

Should I wax my mustachio?

I'd ask Luk, the Board's Queer-Eye but he has no chin to cover, can barely sprout a Van Dyke, and he's pretending he isn't here

Yes, it's kind of a shame to cover my face, but the ugly people won; we are all wearing masks anyway. That's kind of why I stopped bothering to shave.

I gotta admit: it is making me rethink my handsome privilege.

You look a bit like John Malkovich if he was sweeping up on the set of Tombstone.

And I sound like William H Macy, if he's not in Fargo.

I don't dress any different now than I ever did but now that I've added a bandana suddenly little kids are pointing me out as a cowboy. Usually I'm wearing a white brand snap fedora, which doesn't actually look like a Western hat, set nowadays people only think of ball caps.

Tonight, I happen to be wearing a vintage, black, gen-u-wine Stetson 4X Beaver. Maybe I should scoot down to actual Tombstone.

Now- tohe point of a thread- how do you tame your chin whiskers?

To each his own

I really don't think any one product to vastly superior to the next. That said, I like the viking product line

Now that I'm grey, my whiskers are more coarse. Hair condition applied in the shower is very helpful.

Great beard. Oddly, as I greyed, mine got softer.

Years ago I would use hair conditioner to soothe the early scruff. These days I don't often have a reason to have hair conditioner in the house.

Pro tip for the non bearded ladies and gentleman.: Hair conditioner works great as a shave cream, which is where the rest of the last bottle I had in the house went.

I'm growing my hair as well, so I suppose I'll need to be thinking about shampoo and conditioner there. So far I've just been washing it with bar soap as I've always washed my scalp. It was getting a little longer and I was thinking maybe I need to start using shampoos I use the last of the watermelon cucumber no-tears formula shampoo in the house on that.

If I lose the side burns I might go ahead and shave my head again. I have no hair at my temples in a very high forehead so I'll probably keep that hair really short if I keep it at all.

I haven't a hair brush that would work for a beard in the house but I found a brush that was for cleaning newbuck and suede that seems be working quite well. My face is sort of suede at the moment.

I don't remember

I'm using COVID as my excuse. I don't recall when I last had a haircut. We have a wedding to attend in October. I may get one then

Daily wash with a shampoo/conditioner, then combing and application of oil works great for softness and skin health. Waxes are a bitch to apply and are mostly for shaping and are a nightmare to remove if necessary. Balms are kind of meh from my experience. Imvest in good brushe, comb and oil.

I'll look for oil tomorrow then. I don't recall 8f 8t was a brand or a type of product but I saw something labeled "beard butter." It came in a flat "Dapoer Dan, dammit!" style tin. I'm think it is like the margarine of beard oil. Hydrogenated, likely

Since this grew out from a nice, close shave, they are all square-cut, too. I'm thinking a light trim might make a difference, but I didn't want to lose any length.

I don't think I want to color it. I think if I did I would seek out ofprrofessional. 10 or 12 years ago I grew a beard for a couple of weeks and when I saw how much salt was in it I tried that Just For Men stuff. It stained everywhere it touched my face, Governor Northam style. I shaved and scrubbed a layer off my skin.

I'd personally wouldn't bother with dyes. As for oil, my personal preference is to find one with natural oils such as jojoba, almond etc.

I don't do anything for mine other than keep it trimmed and shampoo daily with a shampoo/conditioner.

IMO, any beard specific product is just your standard hair care product in expensive packaging.

GeeBee BBs in beards and face rags. Just like .....

.... that Ayatollah Guy.

Umm, excuse me?

I am MUCH more handsomer than that Atoll guy even WITH a face rag.

Soak it with...

Soak it with pussy juice. It may not help your beard but it will help you lady.

Yes I'm definitely going to need a trimmer at some point. I have a little Micro trimmer for the edges and ears and such. It works in a pinch but it's not really the kind of thing that you need to do a nice job and doesn't have the proper guards and such

I''ve gone full Santa the last few years. But don't look to me for grooming advice, cause I'm lucky that I got it easy and everything works out with $5 shampoo and a comb. Got to be anti dandruff shampoo though or I'll start to snow.

Buy a standard plug in hair clipper with an adjustable guard. I've had mine for 20+ years.

I got some 30 dollar clippers on amazon, Whal I think, works great, been using it for years because fuck shaving.

Can't grow a beard though.....got the Korean facial hair problems.

The goat/stache are good, the rest of it? mehhhh....unattractively scraggily looking.

But the stache and the goat are good, so I'm going to own it in my older age with the uber Pai Mei style....Asian ZZ Top lookin' shit.

The Mrs. is not excited about that.

Laughs.

There is a thread in "How To" called "Try this and report back" by mr. G about g-spot stim a d squirting. I was fairly happily married back then and the wife responded well to the squirting instructions. If that works for beards I shoulda bottled and sold it. Prolific producer.

Reminds me of when I was young, and not just Lit "old enough" I actually was over 18 I worked on an iron-working crew laying iron for a drainage canal for the then-new I-10 to Los Angeles. Buncha foul-mouthed, salty characters. I was a nerd and worked out like a fiend but was rail-thin. I could get ripped, but could not bulk up if my life depended on it.

Reuben says, "Eat lotsa pussy and drink lotsa beer!" The crew though that was hilarious since it was apparent I knew nothing about either at the time . Must work- I rarely drink beer, but nowadays I gotta watch what I eat.
