Clare looked at Jana one more time, "Are you sure?"
"You're the best," Jana said her pen poised over her checkbook. "Whatever you did to Gary to get him to commit to Jasmine worked, so you should have no trouble with *insert name later*."
Clare sighed, Jana was their vain friend, and Jasmine had been sweet. Getting Gary to propose had been fairly simple, since he had wanted to commit, he just didn't know he wanted to commit. While Jana's latest hot boyfriend undoubtedly killed any thoughts of commitment while he was in puberty.
The problem wasn't getting him to consider commitment, the problem was Jana wanted her to do whatever she had done to Gary and refused to consider anything else.
"Fine, but no payment until a ring is on your finger."
"Great, I'm going away on a ski trip. He couldn't make time to go, business or whatever." Jana shrugged putting away her checkbook. "I'll work really hard to be exciting when he proposes."
Clare sighed, this wasn't going to be easy, or fun, or probably successful. What she did wasn't magical, but with the right target and the right intentions she could get a guy to propose within 6 months. As she walked away from the restaurant she wondered how she was going to make this work. Gary had been easy, she'd flirted with him, and when he refused she'd said he wasn't serious about Jasmine so what could it hurt.
It worked because he loved her, Jana's latest however, while definitely more marriageable than any of her other men, was not in love with Jana. So first she'd have to convince him he was, which was why she wasn't sure about the plan.
She didn't know him all that well, and so as she headed back to the office she thought about everything she knew. He was hot, successful, serious enough about work to turn down a ski trip filled with sex, and about 5 years older than Clare and Jana.
