This is the only story where a man is able to give a woman anything and everything she needs in life.
A lonely woman who has practically nothing in her life finds a magical lamp, able to give her any wish she desires. Not just three mind you, but as many as she wants.
I shall be the Genie, while SweetP begged me to have her be the female.
All yours.

IC:

Driving along the rainy road, she watched for signs to tell her where she was exactly. She was driving through Maine on her way home. A small town with little next to nothing to do in it but work and sleep. It suited her perfectly since she did not have a social life, never had one. She was still single to her mother's dismay and had no prospects of marriage in her near future.

The sterio was blaring old 80's tunes which brough back highschool memories and prom. She went alone, ended up with some loser and her one night of supposed romantic sex turned into a five second nightmare.

Devon Port Exit 1/2 mile ahead.

"great." She was almost there, she needed to use the bathroom, get something to eat and gas up for the last leg home. She had gone at the Library Manager's request to a book fair at some college and found nothing that interested her but she did manage to find all the books they needed or had on order.

"Job well done Miranda." She congradulated herself aloud, since no one else would do it for her. Pulling up to a small stretch of buildings, she scoped them out for food. She knew there was a gas station ahead, so she may as well stop here and eat.

~Twenty Minutes Later~

She stood out, watching the drizzle slowly dwindle down to nothing when she heard the tinkering of a small bell. Turning her head next door she spied the antique store. A natural born shopper at heart, she fought whether to leave or go in?

The female inside said she needed something to decorate her end table, an excuse as always, and went inside. Dimly lit the room smelled of dust and aged items, she felt a nastalgia come over her, like she found a sacred place no one else had been. Browsing around slowly, the counter girl offered to assist but she wanted to look alone. She seen a few small hand carved trunks but all were too big for her tiny table. Her attention went to various items, even an old silver brush and comb set, but that price was way too high! Even her mastercard didn't deserve that punishment, nor her bills. Spotting some old oil lamps she moved towards them.

Again, eye sores, too big and one was very filthy. "How much for this one?" She smiled as she held up the old relic that resembled the lamp from "I dream of Genie".

"Is it priced?" The girl asked annoyed, as if it should be?

"No, I am afraid it isnt."

"Ten bucks." The girl chirped as if it was an automatic pricing.

"Five."

"It's got to be worth more than five lady."

"Its a little rusty and needs polished and I doubt these are that uncommon, six fifty."

"Alright sold." Being as anal as ever, she almost wished the girl had haggled more. She didnt get much conversation these days, other than orders and demands.

Paying for her trinket, she drove to the gas station and then home. Greatful to be in the door and out of the rain, she kicked off her shoes and hung her coat. Setting down her hang bag and the paper bag the lamp came in, she set out towards the kitchen. Grabbing a tray she got herself a coke, some ice cream, polish and a rag. Picking up the tray, the bag and walking carefully around the couch, she sat down and placed everything on the little coffee table.

"Shoot." Jumping up she went for her glass and four cubes of ice. No more no less. She laughed a little, carefully making sure each item was in it's place but what she was using and went to her tv remote, side stepping the unblinking answering machine. Sitting down again, she picked up the rag and lamp.

"I hope this thing was worth it.. Well, it does remind me of the show. At least it's a conversational piece." She muttered to herself as she began to wipe it clean.

Djinn felt a sense of peculiar itchings at the back of his neck. At first he was unaware of the forming mist around him and just scratched at it with a sort of boredom.
The memories flooded back though, as he pushed through a hazy gray pillar of smoke. A sense of weightless flight seized him as he flew out from among the smoke that now hurled out of the lamp.
Asleep for too many centuries. Djinn rubbed his eyes, giving out a loud yawn that seemed to shake the entire house.
He floated around a small cloud like of the same smoke that seemed to cover his lower half. Above his torso a dark tanned skin man now looked out at the new world with a sense of almost exhiliaration.
"My, things have changed."
He poked his finger at a black box that showed his faint resemblance. Cocking his head to one side, he found that he hadn't gained so much as a wrinkle. Still had those hard chiselled features as always, which made him want to smile.
"Bet it's time to get to work though. So, what does my master wish for first?" He turned to see just who had called him out.

Miranda

Rubbing, she watched what she was doing, thuroughly engrossed in her job. The smoke had her looking around, having not remembered ever turning on the stove.

"What the...?" Rising, her head turning she spotted the man in her living room and froze all of two seconds before letting out one of the loudest ear piercing screams of her life. Horror movie stars beware, this sound echoed through the house as she scrambled up and over the couch backwards, still screaming. The lamp had fallen, forgotten on the cushions as she backed away finally inhaling before the blackness took hold and she fainted.

"I GOT MACE!" She panicked, moving towards her purse as the stranger made no more to do more than stare at her.

"I AM ARMED!" She fumbled with her purse, yanking out a small cylinder from her purse, her mace.. Or so she thought. Placing her lipstick before her in the air, she didn't know she had it, secure that she had her mace firmly in hand.

"Leave before I call the cops!" She was frightened, where did he come from?? What was he doing in her house? Her eyes widened a little more, oh god..He was going to rob her! Or worse Rape her! She felt the room tilt but desperately tried to maintain consciousness.

Djinn cocked an eye at both the crazy woman and the small object in her hands. In the fit of just a few moments he was being both threatened and screamed at. What did he do? He hadn't even granted a wish yet, why was she so uppity?
Perhaps she didn't like the wardrobe. He looked down at his nonexistant legs, the empty ground smoking below him. With a snap of his fingers, legs appeared. He wore silk pants that reached down his legs, large and booming. He worse nothing else.
"Don't... use, whatever that is. Please? I'm not here to hurt you."
This woman might not have known that she had called him forth. He had a few of these before, understanding how weird and strange this might be. Humans were fragil and easily spookable creatures.
"Relax," He snapped his fingers again, sending a wave of calm throughout her body.
"Listen to me," He said this softly, as if speaking to a newborn, "My name is Djinn. I am your servant. You called for me."
Djinn picked up the lamp, rubbing it as she had done a few minutes ago.
"You are my master... or should I say mistress. I must admit, I haven't had many females. Just Cleopatra and Shirly. Please, sit down. You can ask me any question you like. I'm not here to hurt you."
Djinn reached out to grab the lipstick from her, his gantle but firm hands moving over hers.
"I'm here to help."

Miranda

"Omigod! Omigod!" Her eyes scanned him, her face paleing considerably.
"YOU HAVE NO LEGS! HAD!?" She felt faint and then suddenly she felt nothing but stoned almost.
He plucked the lipstick from her hand and squatted there as if expecting something?
"I must be dreaming?" She nodded her head, that was it. She was dreaming all of this up? Right?
"Summoned you? M-Master?" She chuckled and shook her head, "I am definately dreaming now." She made a few sounds, laughing and still a little shaken even though she felt calm, something was definately odd about this dream.. She didn't remember laying down?
"Help you say? Help who?" She chuckled and wanted to cry at the same time. Then realizing if this was her dream, she could do whatever she wanted.
"Pinch me." She muttered to herself mostly.

"Here, come on. Let me help you."
Djinn picked her up, holding her in his arms like he had known her all his life. He set her down on the couch, sitting next to her. His hand went to pull a few strands away from her hair.
"You want a pinch?" He gave a half laugh, that boomed from out of his chest. His hand went down to cup her breast. A single finger searched for her nipple. When he found it he tuck it between his finger and thumb, pressing down just hard enough for her to really feel it.
"It's not a dream, Mistress." His hand came over the breast to calm the pain," You're here, I'm here. And you've got some wishes to make."

Miranda

"Ouch!" She swatted at his hand however unpainful that was.
"Don't touch me like that! I don't even know you.. gin was it?" She paled suddenly as if getting a clue in her mind.

"I'm not dreaming.. am I?" His looked said it all, he had stated that already.

"Am I on some sort of "funniest home videos"? Or perhaps some practical jokes show I haven't yet seen?" His eyes gave no recognition to those questions.

"Wishes?" She was parotting him badly, and she was no addle witted twit either!

"You are serious aren't you?" She again tried to push this all off as lack of sleep, or deluded thinking.. Something other than reality.

"Wait.. " She wasn't really going to fall for this was she?! She wasn't born last night! "Who put you up to this? Are you a patient at the mental hospital?" Finally she crossed her arms and glared at him. "Prove it then.." She cocked a brow and waited, knowing this was some joke on her. Her co-workers knew she watched the old shows.. Someone hired this stripper, god he was sexy!.. shaking her head, she centered on this farce. Someone definately hired him to put on over on her...

Djinn bowed back as she spoke.
"Forgive my informality. It's been a long time," He took a long sigh as he looked at her," A really really long time. I will not do it again."
He went to touch her hand, looking at her with a brutal sort of honesty.
"I can do anything you wish of me. Just say, "I wish" and it will come true. There are no restrictions, just that of which you can imagine. Ok?"
He knelt there next to her, his entire body quivering on what she would say next.

Miranda

"So you can't prove it unless I say I wish?" Odd, definately odd. Her mind worked overtime, something she could wish for and have suddenly? Prove he was insane and be done with this whole thing?

"Alright Djinn, I wish I was ten pounds lighter." She waited to see how he would solve that one? She tried her hardest not to laugh at the poor guy.. Why did all the cute ones have to be insane?

Djinn gave off a familiar smile, wiping his hands together as he saw her lying there on the couch waiting for him to perform his magic.
"As you wish, Mistress," He snapped his fingers.
At once, her leg was gone, it disappeared just below the knee. The skin grew over as if nothing were out of the ordinary. Indeed, there was no pain, or sense of loss of any kind, just a missing leg from her thigh.
"There you are, ten pounds lighter. Do you doubt me now?"

Miranda

Sitting up and looking, she didn't feel different and her clothes fit just as before? Until she noticed her feet.. or that is foot.

"OH MY FUCKING GOD!" She freaked out. "That is NOT what I meant!" She sat upright and tried to move only to find she could not.

She didn't know whether to faint over the fact he was real or the fact her lower leg was missing!

"Oh god, this isnt happening to me!" She felt tears well up and struggled to keep some sanity.

"FIX THIS!" She demanded, afraid she would be like this for life!

Djinn stepped back from her as he watched her begin to freak out. He had only done what she asked of him, nothing more, why did she feel the need to scream and shout?
"Ok... ok. Calm down. You want it gone just wish it so. I can turn everything back to normal if you just wish it."
He looked back at her single foot, and the spot where her other one should have been.
"You are ten pounds lighter though..."

Miranda

"I WISH FOR THOSE TEN POUNDS BACK!" She shouted at him, nearly hysterical and definately paniced.

"That's not funny Djinn, not even remotely funny!" She wanted to get up and slap him once, just once. Purposely doing that to her! Was he clueless!?

Djinn tried to calm her down, but it wasn't working. He didn't do it on purpose, he just did what she asked of him. How was he supposed to know she wanted something specific taken off? She asked for ten pound, he took ten pounds.
"Ok," He said, slumping back into a small chair, wondering just where he had gone wrong with the wish. He snapped his fingers.
Her leg fell down on her lap, bouncing once and then falling to the floor. There was no blood, it was closed off, just like the stump she now had.
The ten pounds were back, just as she asked.
"There you go."

Miranda

"You are definately doing this on purpose now Djinn." She stared at her leg, almost wanting to vomit up the contents of her stomach.

"Alright, I will be as clear as possible with this. Are you LISTENING?!" she gasped for air, breathing deeply and trying desperately not to fall apart worse than she was already.

"I wish for my leg back, in place, and working..." She didn't look at him, she felt murderous at that point and scared shitless at the same time.

"Oh..." He looked at the lifeless leg on the floor, just now thinking maybe it might be of more use attached to her thigh. He snapped his fingers and her leg came together once more, as if nothing had ever happened.
"I'm sorry, maybe I was clear. I will give you whatever you wish for, but I can not infer your wishes. I will only grant what you want. To be honest, I never was very good at this. Don't worry, just a rocky start. We'll get to it this time. Come on, give me a wish, any wish. I'll grant the stuffing out of it, I promise."
He looked like that of a child, ready and eager to go outside and play.

Miranda

She sat silently for a few minutes, just wiggling her toes to making sure they worked. She stood up and sat down a few more times as well. Lifting her skirt up above her knees, she turned this way and that, searching for anything else he may have messed up.

Finally after ten minutes she was satisfied he had nothing left undone on her, she said nothing as she turned off the tv and cleaned up her things. Her coke flat and iceless now, her polishing forgotten, she numbly moved through the house into her spotless kitchen and rinsed the cup and bowl. Placing them in the dishwasher, she set the spoon in as well. Everything in its place inside the dishwasher, she put her tray away with the other three matches and walked quietly back into the living room.

"I am going to bed now. I think you have tormented me enough for one night.. So off with you.. into your little lamp or whever you go."S he gave a half-laugh-half-whimper. He really did scare the heck out of her and she was too shaken for more of this tonight. She had alot of things she could wish for, but her mind was too numb to think of anything unharmful to herself!

"When was the last time you were out of that lamp and serving someone? Back before they had electricity? Before they had houses?!" She stammered, unbelieving the things that just happened to her. No pain nothing, but it was still frightening.

Djinn gave her a confused look as she asked him these questions.
"Electricity? You mean..." He held up his hand as a bolt of lightening flashed out, "Yes, I remember electricity. Never thought much about it. I haven't been out for a while though, centuries. Don't worry, we can teach each other as we go along. A trial and error sort of thing. You are the student, and I'm the teacher... I have many things to teach."
He webnt over to the lamp, and set it on the table.
"Then I am to bed, unless there is anything else you need of me?"

Miranda

"No, no no.. I believe you need to be taught and shown things more than I do.. Can't even understand a simple wish." She muttered under her breath that last part.

"I have no other needs right now, so ...? Well, back into the lamp or whatever it is you do. I need a drink and some sleep." She turned moving towards her bedroom, knowing there was no alcohol in the house. She'd wish for some but the thought of drowning from an indoor's rainstorm wasn't a good vision.

Moving into her bathroom she readied herself for bed, turned out the lights and crawled into her comfortable bed. This was just a dream, a weird and frightening one, but still a dream. She'd wake up in the morning and all would be well.

~Morning~

The alarm went off at five A.M. as usual. She blindly reached over and hit the snooze button, just a few extra minutes to wake up before facing the day.

She stretched and yawned, chuckling at her memories of that rediculous dream she had last night.

Djinn had been reading for hours. He hadn't given much effort to look at the time, or the sun as it rose from the east outside. His nose had been planted firmly in book after book as he began to read about history and culture of the new society he was in.
"Flying... oh, how surreal."
The human race had accomplished so many things. He was astounded by thei efforts in science and technology. Things that people once could only wish for were now at their fingertips.
What good was a genie in this day and age? No wonder she was bad at making wishes. She had everything she needed, what else was there?
He sat down on the couch with a new magazine, flipping through the pages of both scandal and sex. The t.v. turned on. Djinn stood up, startled, looking down at the remote on the couch. He grabbed for it, beginning to play with the t.v.
"Ahhh," He was delighted with this new toy, "Oh, hey. What is this now?"
Apparently an epidemic was spreading throughout the United States. Girls were going wild, and no one could stop them from taking their clothes off. He switched the channel, looking at how a wonder pill could make his penis three inches longer.
"What a world to live in."
Another channel showed this poor woman named Suzie, who was pregnant with her husband's twin brother's baby. The only problem was her husband now lay in a comma because of a car accident.
"Oh, how sad. They actually film the lives of people and show them for everyone?"
This captain and his first mate were lost on a deserted island with a few of their passengers. Djinn looked at this curiously, liking it already.
"Oh, no. Professor, don't let Gilligan touch it..." But it was too late. Half an hour later, Djinn realized why those people were still on the island.
"Damnit."
He switched to a show about a duck and bunny each trying to convince the other that it was either duck or rabbit season. The duck apparent lost a few times before. Djinn spent the rest of the morning laughing at the foils of Bugs and all his pals.
Behold the future, he laughed.

Miranda

Sleepy eyed and half asleep, she made her way from her bedroom into her kitchen and turned on the coffee pot. Her head to fuzzy, it took her a few minutes to hear the tv set.
Now why was it on at this hour?? She must have really been tired. Yawning, she scratched her stomach as she moved into the living room and froze in her tracks.

There on the couch was once again the man WHOM she could have SWORN was in her dreams last night.. That meant..

"Holy fuck!" She exclaimed loudly.

Shaking herself out of it, she was now wide awake and curious.
"Why are you watching the tv set?" Course it would be a good way to get him updated, but then again everything on tv was fake. She hurried and grabbed the remote from him and shut it off.

"No watching that! you'll only get more confused." Tossing the remote back onto the couch she gave him a stern look and marched back into the kitchen to hunt for something edible.

"How did you sleep?" She called out from the pantry eyeing different boxes of cerial with little interest.

"Sleep?" Djinn eyed the remote as it layed on the side of the couch like a dead serpent, the venom still inside. T.V. apparently held something of evil, that would posion the evilness. He didn't understand, but then again, he probably never would. Who cared.
"I don't sleep. When I go into my lamp, I just experience a sort of stopping of everything. Time doesn't pass, I'm just there, waiting for someone to rub the lamp before I can come out again. I've never slept before in my nice, but from what I hear it's quite fascinating."
If T.V. was so evil, why did she have one in her house? Maybe someone made her watch it? Yes, that could be possible. They wanted her to see the lives of others so they could control her somehow, but why? He might be able to wish the evil T.V. away from her, if she chose to.
"Ummm," He looked confused, trying to make some sort of conversation with her, "How did you sleep?"

Miranda

Smiling, she said nothing as she gathered up her bowl of cereal and walked into the living room.

"Perfectly aside from the nightmare.. never mind. So about these wishes.. " She was doing it again, thinking over all the things she could have. Greed was an evil demon, but what harm could come from a few simple wishes that made her life easier? As long as she didn't do anything majorly alternating, it would be alright... wouldn't it?

Sitting on the couch she stared at him intently, as if trying to read his mind and discover what he was thinking. Perhaps that would be an interesting wish? To read minds?

"Can you grant me any wish? Any and all wishes? Or is there limitations?" She sat on the edge of the couch, her cereal forgotten for the moment, she had to know!

"I don't know if I have limitations." Djinn said this firmly as he sat across from her, his hands on his laps.
"It's not exactly like I went to some sort of Genie school in order to become what I am today. I know every time someone has asked for a wish, I've been able to grant it. Create worlds, alter cultures. I've done pretty much everything. If you can find a limitaiton, you will be just as surprised as I am."
He walked over to her, taking her hands with his own, "You can wish for whatever you want, and you can have as many as you want. Some genies are limited in power and in wishes, but mine, so far are free. It is your choice how much, or how little you want."
He gave her a wink, sitting back down, and waiting to grant her first desire, "Your wish, is my command."
