BDSM books?

Just wondering - can anyone advise me of BDSM book titles that have an element of non-consent in them? I've read a few BDSM stories, but I'd really like to read one with non-consent in it.

I was actually looking for printed, published stories, but I have to admit that was a good story.

I think BDSM and non-consent go together - and to be honest I wasn't sure where to ask it. By all means if I'm in the wrong place tell me and I'll move.

:)

In the cafe we have a bdsm book discussion club. Some of those books have a 'reluctance' theme.

Oh, then it's not a book. Hmm. Is it good? Did you read it?

In the real world, BDSM and non-consent do not go together. Informed consent is a large part of what seperates BDSM from abuse. There can be elements of non-consent within a BDSM relationship or just within a scene, but those are negotiated and agreed to by the parties concerned.

Consent can be withdrawn. If it is and the scene doesn't stop, it crosses the line from BDSM to an abusive situation, possibly an assualt or rape.

In the realm of erotic literature, on the other hand, non-consent can be very hot and sexy. It's fantasy and there's nothing wrong with that at all. I can't make a lot of recommendations because frankly, I'm an odd duck when it comes to erotica. For the most part I don't find erotica terribly erotic. Most of it is terribly written, the characters are uninteresting and usually the poor excuse of a plot is usually nothing more than strings of sex scenes with excuses to go from one sex scene to the next.

And no, I don't watch porn either.

The Sleeping Beauty series by Anne Rice (writing as A. N. Roquelaure) wasn't too bad for erotica and it's all pretty much non-consentual. The Marketplace series by Laura Antoniou is pretty good stuff, too. You can find Sleeping Beauty at places like Barnes & Noble or Amazon.com. I recommend going to Mystic Rose Books directly for The Marketplace books

I should put those in the BDSM thread as nominations!

I write some non-consent / reluctance stories. You might like those. I just love the whole, "this is horrible, I'm a good girl, I'd never do this, but you are forcing me, wow I'm excited thing."

Honestly, I've read better on Lit. Hell, her later Vampire books, while not out-and-out porn, are more erotic than the Beauty series. She constantly switched focus from the Prince to Beauty to the other slaves and it bugged me.

Part of me wants to see just how erotic her new Jesus books are. Does this make me sick 'n disgusting? :catroar:

Yeah, me too. What few threads I'm actively involved in all involve some form of non-consent at the beginning - and the one story I wrote was also non-consent. But I do feel the need to sit down with a good book and enjoy myself - and the few erotic books I've read just haven't done it for me.

At all the anonymous meetings I've been too (2, one EA and the other AA) had tons of coffee, cell phones and cigs, but no chocolate. Damn!

Yeah, same here. I grew up at AA meetings (both parents are alcoholic/drug addicts) and they never had anything good. Occasionally I'd sneek a sugar cube, though.

LOL!

The best thing I ever got from an AA meeting, well actually I went to the Ala-non (sp?) meeting while my loved one went to AA, was finding out that everyone in the room had someone who was blaming them for their loved one's actions or lack thereof.

I'd thought it was only me with my Grandparents holding me responsible for my Mom but no, it was everyone there. That was a pretty wonderful realization. Prior to that I'd bought that was in some ways my fault and responsibility.

Sounds like you went to a good al-anon meeting. I won't go to 'em cause just about every one I've ever gone to is full of whining.

There are a lot of whiners, just about every damn where but I did get that one useful gem out of it. That was the only meeting I went to though. I tend to sift through stuff for what I can use like that.

Okay back to this thread:

I haven't come up with any non consent BDSM novels that I liked. I do like Tales From Subspace here at Lit. It's long which I adore. It's hot. The girl in the story I could identify with. I recommend it. The link is posted in my BDSM book of the month club thread.

I also like another story that I listed there but it's not from Lit.

There is a third story that someone once recommended here in a rape thread. It's really good but I don't know the link for it. It's called Lynsey's Game or something like that. Good thing I copy and pasted the whole story into my docs so I could "use" it when I felt I wanted to.

I do agree though that non consent should be fiction only and is not part of my RL BDSM nor do I expect it ever will be. That goes against some of my strongest beliefs.
