Bay Area TV station apologizes for racist pilot names

How could she be so stupid as to read that shit on the air. FOUR pilots? She must be hot at least..., I hope...,

Note where it came from; PC central headquarters.

The TV station DID call the NTSB for verification of the pilots' names.

Unfortunately for them, a summer intern took the call and decided to have a little fun with them. I think the intern won't get a very good reference now.

Who verified the story? Ray Cyst and Upton Ohgood?? Did they escalate the issue up to Jim Notbright or Ima Tarde in management before hitting the airwaves?
Even the resident Asian copy editor Sum Dim Guy missed this one?

News sources are usually so together, non-biased, and factual.

Literotica will be saddened today...I've just verified with the NTSB that one of the victims in this horrible tragedy was our own Mischka Stitz, known here at Literotica simply as Mischka. It's truly a sad day on the general board.

She? Where were the IQs of everyone else at the station. More than one person sees this stuff before it goes on the air.

An entire station of Ted Baxters. Mary Tyler Moore must be so proud...

Job requirements for anchor people seem to be A) attractive face B) good voice C) an IQ that couldn't crawl out of a petri dish.

Yes, but the broadcast was a FOX affiliate. Surprise Surprise...

But damn the LA Times for reporting it right Cap'n?

Can someone explain to me how the pilot names are racist?

I don't see this as any more racist than any other joke name. Like having someone page for "Mike Hunt".

It's just playing with the sounds.

My favorite was a lady at StarBucks who told them her name was Primrose Everdeen.

When they called "Primrose Everdeen" over the PA, she jumped up and screamed "I volunteer! I volunteer!)

There was about a 3-second lag before I got the Hunger Games reference, then I couldn't stop laughing.

Just a prank, nothing racist about it.

Reports of my demise may have been exaggerated.

Yes, four pilots. Regulatory agencies like the FAA and individual airlines according to contractual work rules in pilot labor agreements have strict limitations on the amount of flying pilots can do in any 24 hour period.

On transcontinental flights, a third pilot or a complete two-man relief crew is commonplace.

I apologize in advance:

I called it. They fired the intern today.

I laughed and laughed.

It was kinda ballsy for someone to do that. I'm sort of impressed in a weird kind of way. You gotta know your job is on the line when you do something like that so I can respect the dedication to the joke. It's worth it as long as it's funny and it was.

That's the thing: first, the names are fucking funny. Second. SOMEONE REPORTED THEM. Double win.

The fact that this ended up on the air is funny as hell. Didn't Bill O'Reilly once attribute a viewer letter to "Heywood Jablome?"

In related news, the airline should shut the fuck up. No one was defamed, and they frankly ought to have other things on their minds right now.
