So I'm thinking for a story that takes place in the future of the Avatar world, about 134 years after Korra first comes to Republic City. The current Avatar, Kiba, is an old man but still very active, traveling a lot. Technology now rivals our own world, and our characters are benders in this world, living in Republic City.
Pro-bending is still a very popular sport, but there is also the Ultimate Battlebending League, which is basically like a team-based UFC with bending. Teams of four Battlebenders fight in the various gyms and battle arenas around Republic City, hoping to earn an invitation to official events. I'm thinking our characters are a team of Battlebenders, and they start by fighting at smaller gyms and arenas, until they get noticed by a UBL promoter. He offers them an invitation to the upcoming annual UBL Championship Tournament, where many different teams face off.
Basically, the promoters have a total of 32 invitations to pass out, meaning 32 teams arrive at the UBL tournament at Warrior Stadium in downtown. After Round One there are 16 teams left. After Round Two there are 8 teams left. After Round Three there are four teams left. These four teams are in the Semi-Finals, and the two winners go on to complete in the Final Showdown.
The tournament is a three day event, with Round One on Day One, Round Two and Three on Day Two, and the Semi-Finals and Final Showdown on Day Three.
After the tournament, our team is approached by the Dai Li, which has become one of the largest criminal organizations in Republic City. From here they become involved in the conflicts of the police and criminals and then we can take it wherever.
To start, I need one other guy and two girls so we have equal pairings. I will be playing an earthbender, who is a Beifong and son of the current police chief. He is eighteen and his dad wants him to become a cop too, but my character just wants to live a carefree life, enjoy his freedom, and become a great Battlebender. So I need a waterbender, firebender, and airbender to be the rest of his team, the Diamond Dragons. The airbender is one of Tenzin's descendants, but other than that, he/she can be whoever.
So, is anyone interested? I have also included a brief timeline of what happens after Korra's time:
170 ASC: Avatar Korra first arrives in Republic City.
234 ASC: At eighty-one years old, Korra dies protecting the city from another Equalist uprising. The Equalists are now using energy-based blaster pistols, a recent invention, to even the playing field against benders. Shortly after Korra's death, Avatar Kiba is born in Ba Sing Se of the Earth Kingdom.
244 ASC: At age ten, Kiba discovers he is the Avatar when he accidentally bends water instead of earth while playing in his back yard near their pool. Terrified of being taken away from his friends and family, the boy keeps it a secret.
250 ASC: When Kiba is sixteen, the Order of the White Lotus is searching the entire Earth Kingdom, concerned that the next Avatar has not appeared yet. They go to every major hospital and look at birth records, then demand interviews with everyone born during the same year Korra died. Before they get to Kiba's house, he gets scared and runs away.
251 ASC: Not wanting the attention or responsibility of being the Avatar, Kiba spends a year running, traveling the world. While staying in a small fishing village, he sees that the Equalists are spreading, and because the Avatar has vanished again, people are losing faith in bending. An old fisherman tells Kiba the story of Aang and how he ran away and the world suffered for it, causing Kiba to finally accept his destiny and return home. The fisherman is actually a White Lotus and informs his associates of Kiba's return.
260 ASC: After nine years of training in the other three elements (airbending masters are more common now since Tenzin's children and grandchildren were all airbenders), Kiba becomes a fully-realized Avatar.
280 ASC: At age forty-six, Kiba thwarts yet another Equalist uprising, and people begin to have more faith in bending, mostly because the world's population is rapidly increasing as they propel towards a modern age, and more people means more benders being born.
304 ASC: The current year. Avatar Kiba is an old man, about seventy. Though despite his age, he is quite active and enjoys traveling frequently, sharing jokes and stories with the people of the world. He flies around in his own personal airship with his family and close friends.
Republic City now looks like a highly advanced modern metropolis, with computers, television, and other advanced electronics being very common. Touchscreen smartphones and tablets, laptops, music players, gaming consoles, and internet all exist as well.
Automobiles come in a variety of models, including vans, trucks, and sports cars. Back in the days of Avatar Korra, Hiroshi Sato's technology was replicated by other companies, leading to the term “automobiles,” with Sato's models being exclusively referred to as Satomobiles. However, today what was once known as Future Industries is now called Sato Motor Company, and it designs the best automobile models, as well as engines for trains and airships (which look a lot like a fusion between jet airplanes and spaceships).
