Battered Husbands - The Misuse of Section 498 (a) of the IPC by married women.

I was married 1-1/2 year back after marriage
i came toknow about many fact abt girl and
her family was concealed from me and she was adamant,
loose character so i filed divorce petition but she
is not accepting summons and filed false 498-A and other cases against me can some one help me to come out of this (for getting divorce and fighting 498-A)

My brother has been married for just a month now, his wife has caused him a lot of mental trauma by being adamant and abusing my parents in my brother's presence. She ill-treated my parents and abused my brother and then went off to her parents' place a few days after marriage. She returned in a few days and we thought that she's changed. Her return was intentional though, just to be in the right-place to be able to file a police complaint. She has registered a case of dowry-harassment inspite of no demands from our side for dowry. There has been no demand for any money or property, she is in perfect physical and mental condition (my brother's in more trauma than her), yet she is trying to use 498A to try and blackmail us for money. Is there any way this attempt of her's could be foiled? The law, in such cases, usually sympathises with the girl, but isn't there some way people making such false accusations be punished ? Is there any way of escaping paying up their blackmail demands ?

My wife & in laws lodged a false 498 A case(without Dowry for a change!!!!) against me & my parents.I was arrested & put in jail for a day.My parents were spared since they dont stay with me.I sent the divorce notice straightaway.But my wife is not ready to give divorce either(mutual).Now she wants to live with me!!!!!!! with her conditions!!!!!.Also she has made sure my passport is seized so that i cannot go abroad!!!(I was working in US before).Now I am running around with court appearences(eventhough there is no firm evidence against me)nor i committed any crime.I am a Software Engineer by profession.I am totally disgusted with this 498A law & awaiting for divorce(i am planning to go for divorse).

The best part I have given money to my inlaws & so called my wife & she has run away to her parents house with my things & her demands have not stopped yet!!!!

Has some one of you used the criminal case against a person(male) as "Cruelity" basis for divorse?
