"Basket of Deplorables" - Hillary Correctly Labels Trump Supporters. Beautiful.

"To just be grossly generalistic, you can put half of Trump supporters into what I call the `basket of deplorables'...Right? Racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it."- Hillary Clinton

Brave. Wonderful. Truthful.

For all of Hillary's faults, she nailed this one. Instead of playing it safe, she went after Trump's voters - the real culprits - and called out the regressive fucksticks for what they are.

This further solidifies that her victory in November will act as a referendum when it comes to the morons who lifted Trump. Their pathetic, prejudicial causes will go down in flames, and it'll hurt. (You'll be able to tell because of their wailing.) Cannot wait for them to be defeated in November.

That's a pretty long title. Can we just call them Basket Cases for short?

I'm not opposed to "basket cases", but "basket of deplorables" has a different level of sophistication.

Also, when regressives attempt to repeat her insult, they're more likely to spell it incorrectly. And that's fun. ;)

And insult Basket Cases?

There's this, too.

Half? Isn't that approximately 47% of Trump voters? Yeah what a brilliant political move that will be.

You seem to think that running the standard DNC Playbook was some kind of a bold move. They built their tent on fear. The idea that everybody that doesn't agree with the Democrats is this hateful racist sexist person that hates you so vote for the Democrats cuz we don't hate you.

Politics of division, the same verse as the first.

Into which basket can I put the other half?

Habutial conservatives with Stockholm syndrome?

The idea that everybody that doesn't agree with the Democrats is this hateful racist sexist person

Conservatives have chosen a candidate that both respected Republican and Democratic leaders agree is the most openly-bigoted candidate to run for office in decades. Fact.

It's brought scores of "hateful, racist, sexist" people out to the forefront to support him. Fact.

So, if this concerns you, why have Conservatives been hell-bent on trying to prove the Dems right on this?

She didn't say "everybody." She said half. And there's a mountain of evidence that she may have been understating it. Just for starters (because I'm in a bit of hurry this morning), Trump came to political prominence as a birther, and birtherism IS racism.

The white media seems to think this was an incredible gaffe (even though this line of argument from her isn't really new -- Clinton gave a major speech on this same topic just two weeks ago), but I'm not sure who this comment is supposed to offend. If you're a Trump supporter and you're not "racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic," then fine -- she wasn't talking about you.

the idea of the comments that i have been reading this morn is that its perfectly ok to be a hateful nasty person, but it is unbelievably rude to actually call anyone out for it.

LOL, how is it a bad move to insult the 47% of Trump voters who would never vote for her anyway? What she did was basically ask the other 53% of Trump voters "do you want to be with them?"

And she clearly didn't put forth the idea that "everybody that doesn't agree with democrats" is a hateful racist. Even you acknowledge in your first sentence that she was referring to only 47% of them. Words have meanings.

And to suggest that it is the democrats who built their tent on fear is actually hysterical.

"Mexicans are racists"
"Build a wall"
"Crime"
"Radical Islamist Terrorism"

That's the whole Trump platform, pushing fear to the ignorant.

They're comparing it to Romney's comments in 2012.

Big difference is that Romney's comments didn't do much to enthrall his base. Hillary's comments will delight hers.

Romney also referred to 47 percent of the American people. Clinton was referring to half of Trump supporters, who if polls are any indication are maybe 40 percent of the American people.

FFS people, look at the man's rallies, the "Trump That Bitch" shirts that were openly on sale at the RNC. Look at the tweets that Jewish journalists who offend Trumpkins get sent. Look at who people on the GB who are proudly racist are supporting.

The media are in complete denial about the nature of the GOP base in 2016 and what has made Trump such a success.

Queerbait just hates women since his wife left him for a man.

Another big difference is that Romney made his comment in private when he thought nobody but his Croesus buddies could hear, whereas Hillary made hers at the speaker's podium of a big campaign event. This was intentional, to a) rally up her base and to b) make the other half of Trump supporters uncomfortable with the company they keep.

Both good points.

Funny how the Democrats kept taking his money all those years, and Jesse Jackson even praised him for hiring minorities, but just as soon as he ran as a Republican, he became a racist, bigot, homophone, xenophobe misogynist clown.

Shows what happens when you leave the reservation/plantation...

Bigger font for the old man.

You are eluding to the fear of the corrupt elites and the erudite NRO crowd who hated their base prior to the rise of Trump and who made his rise possible.

But he is not a bigot. He just doesn't employ the pussified (I am tempted to say gentrified to tie them all to the plantation system where their possessions are supposed to remain humble, work hard and keep their mouths fucking shut; children and slaves should be seen, but not heard.) rhetoric of the ruling class who are terrified of offending anybody other that the people who oppose them politically.

The supposed genius (above) doesn't seem to know the difference between elude and allude. :D

That's what happens when you drop out of your first year of college (at 16 years old) to karate chop the Viet Cong right in their necks.

So true. He should've stayed in a little longer.

Or, at least finished 7th grade - which is when most people learned about those two words (if not earlier).
