Okay, I am starting a thread based on the Books by Tolkien, as you probably realized. You don't have to read the books to write here. But, I would like to take the opinion of those who read the books. What era? Morgothian wars, Sauron, the Lost Years, or Post-Sauron years?

Good question

I suspect that the Morgothian war era would be tough. Not a lot of information to base characters on, and they would be awesomely powerful. Perhaps a setting closer to the events in the LotR trilogy time? Wouldn't necessarily want to be in the SAME period, as that might override some of the canon, but we could try. I don't seem to have your tremendous knowledge of the books, but I have read all of them several times, as well as played/gamemastered the Iron Crown RPG. This sounds like fun, and if there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.

OOC: The Morgothian war era would be fun as hell, though. But you have a point. You can help in one way, join in! You don;t have to actually be a character from the books, but try to make them based on the books. There are no mages, except for the Anuir and Mayia. Morgoth was the first Anuir, and Sauron was a Mayia that followed Morgoth. I'm going to start the story in the Morgothian war era, but after thats done, we can continue into the Lost Years, and so on. If you choose someone who dies, he wont't, okay?

IC: At first there was only one. Illuvatar, the One. He created a world, but made it barren. He then created nine demi-gods, the Anuir, in his own likeness. The first was named Morgoth, and he had the powers the others had, swirled into one. But he knew greed and evil. Illuvatar sent the Anuir to the Planet and named it Delos and told the Anuir to make it beautiful. He then created humans and dwarves and elves and Maiya. He sent them to Earth, but put them to sleep. Morgoth coveted all of this, and wanted it for himself. The other 8 Anuir began to create the world, making mountains and trees and oceans and rivers. After this was done, they made their homeland. In it, they planted two huge trees, one to act as a moon, and the other as a sun. But while they created their home, Morgoth changed Delos. He made the mountains higher, and changed everything, moving it around. The 8 came back, and grew angry. Yet they did not contest him, for he was stronger than them. They lived with the changes, and then the elves awakened. Morgoth strove to influence them, but the 8 got there first. So Morgoth built a great stronghold in the north and called it Ulumno. He created evil creatures, such as spiders and snakes, and trolls and goblins. One spider he created, that not even he could control. It was called Ungoliant. But then, Morgoth made a deal with Ungoliant, and she agreed. Morgoth continued by making the Balrogs, demons of Fire, who strive only to kill mortals. Then the humans woke up, and the 8 reached them first. The 8 then, prepared to sail away to Vala, their homeland. The elves decided to go woth them. All but a few. These were called the Dark Elves, for they had never seen the ligh of the trees of Vala. But the other elves took up residence in Vala, along with the Mayia. All except one Mayia. They called him Sauron, and he ran away to join Morgoth. He created a stronghold called Angband, and resided in there. The elves, meanwhile, split into two groups, the land elves, and the sea elves.(That was all an introduction. Just don't pick Morgoth, he is mine. Anybody else is still fair game, though)

You're on

I'll reread the Silmarillion tonight, and post tomorrow. Here's looking to an... interesting time, Morgoth.

OOC: Well, it's good to have you! Just need some more people.

OOC: I'd love to join if thats fine with you, can you give me an idea on who I should be? I'm new to these things

Good news, and bad news

Good news: I did read the Silmarillion, and have a character concept.
Bad news: I simply haven't the time to devote to another thread right now, especially as I'm starting the Marvel thread. Good luck to you with this one, Morgoth!

OOC: Glad to have you, LAdy Siren. Why don't you be either Maia woman or an elven maiden. Warrior, or thief. Light magic, if Maia. There is no fireballs or chain lightning in these stories, I'm afraid. And wierd name, you gotta have a wierd name.

OOC for Morgoth

My apologies for putting this in your thread, but I knew not how else to contact you. The lovely ladies who are doing the Lords and Ladies thread asked me to express their desire for you to return to their thread. Your input has been missed, for your style is well-suited to that story. Thank you, Neale

OOC: I shall be there, thank you Neale. Don't apologize to me though, it puts tears in my eyes.

OOC: it's been a while since I have been in here I had the flu and this thread seems to have died... is it still going because I would like to be a female elven warrior if that is fine with you? and is the name Ariel wierd enough? if not let me know cause I'm not sure what you mean exactly .. thanks! :)

OOC: Wonderful, Lady Siren! None of my threads actually "die". People just dtop posting in them;)

OOC: ok, so shall we get this one started? Maybe people will show up ;)

IC: Ariel leaned against a tree as she stared off into the distance completely lost in thought. She had been traveling with no real destination just for something to do. Her hometown had been destroyed years ago in a war that ravaged the whole eleven community, not many managed to survive including her parents and sister. Memories seemed to be playing over and over again within her mind. She saw herself running to her house screaming for her mother who was reaching for her when a man suddenly beheaded her right there. She always remembered while she hid the men raping her sister. She shook her head chasing the images away. So here she was a traveler with no real home and no real way of predicting where her road might lead. So far she had become quite good with swords, she had learned from a good friend of hers who had been killed about a year ago. So now she pretty much just kept to herself no one knew much about her nor cared to, she was just herself and her horse... alone.

Morgoth sat shackled in chains, as the Vala brought him to the land of Valar. He would play them all for idiots. "My brothers. I am sorry for this war and have learned my lesson. I would like to reside with you for a while", he said, standing up. If it was one thing about the 2 of them, Manwe, was that he was far too forgiving. Morgoth was unshackled, and he lived with them for a few hours. He quickly heard about the Silmarilions, and desired them for himself. He acted good, and did many things to help the elves and Vala.

Meanwhile...
Arthron, a human warrior, sat watching the orcish campfires burn. He glowered at them, for they had razed his village to the ground, and were carrying the supplies back to their present lord, Sauron. Sauron ruled, now that Morgoth had been captured. Arthron stood up, and walked away in hate. He walked for about a day, when he saw the tracks of an elf. He ran after, and came upon a female. Instantly, his regret was unfurled. he had expected a large band of warriors.

Ariel looked up when she heard someone approach. She instincly tensed her hand going to her sword hilt as she watched a human approach a distinct look of disapointment on his face. She frowned relaxing a little bit but still very wary of this human. "Hello" she said softly "may I help you" she arched an eyebrow inquiringly. She sensed no real threat from this human and she managed to relax a bit more to really look at him. He was quite handsome, for a human anyway. She tilted her head to one side wondering who he was and why he was here. By the look of the sword he was a warrior. In the end she decided it was none of her business, besides she was an elf he was human, those relationships never worked out. So she stood there her hands on her hips and awaited his reply.

"I am Arthron, a human warrior. In these days, one can never be too careful about the forces of the Prince of Hell. My village, as you can see by the smoke, is being razed by a large force of orcs. I saw your tracks and thought maybe you were an army of elves", he explained.

OOC: Greetings, Morgoth. Would you mind an Dwarf in your story line. I have read the LofTR series but not the Silmarillion. I will try to play the part right. Thanks. Now for a little fun.

IC:
Ray'lof sat in the tree as the Orcs burned the village, there was nothing he could do right now, but wait. After the Orcs settled in for the night he jumped out of the tree. Ray knew the Orcs were upwind to him, so they would not know he was comming.

He sunck into the Orc camp and looked around, bodies everywhere. "And this is whyu Dwarfs hate Orcs." he said to himself. He moved thought the town quietly, he spoted 2 Orcs sleeping on night watch.

He creeped up slowly and raised his Battle Axe. (Swooshs, heads roll) after removing thier heads Ray moved out of the village and back into the forest around it. disappering into the night.

OOC: Hope you liked this.

OOC: Not Tolkien, but it's good. Nice to have you.

IC: Morgoth waited until the greatest celebration day of the year. That day, he summoned up his strongest creation, Ungoliant. They walked together, until he spotted the two tress of Vala. Ungoliant suddenly jumped upon them, and drained them, and all was dark. But not for these two evils. They walked right into Feanor's house, and when his father tried to stop them, he killed him. They took the Silmaril, and Morgoth teleported them directly in front of Angband. Sauron stepped out and bowed low. But Ungoliant, when she asked for the Silmaril, was whipped to the Shadow Mountains.

Ariel glanced off into the distance and watched the smoke, a memory flashed through her head. She could see herself in the forest collecting wild flowers when she saw the smoke, the smoke of all she had ever known going up in flames. She resolutely pushed those thoughts away and turned her attention to the human. "I am Ariel and am sorry that I am no army but I have dealt with Orcs before if you wish I shall help you"

"Thank you greatly, Ariel. We should wait until night to spring our attack, though", said Arthron. Suddenly a huge pillar of smoke billowed out of the sky, far in the North. "Oh, mighty Gods. That is the symbol of Morgoth. He has returned!" whispered Arthron in a sharp hiss.

Ariel couldn't help but a slight smile at the human "You are quite welcome" just as she said the words however Arthron suddenly hissed "Oh, mighty Gods. That is the symbol of Morgoth. He has returned!" her elven ears could barely pick up the whisper. She has heard the name Morgoth spoken in human villages and also by the elders of her race. He was said to be pure evil and very powerful. She also suspected him to be behind the great war of the elven society, She wondered what the connection between this human warrior and the great evil may be.

"Oh no. I believe we should journey to King Thingol's throne, Ariel. This is most needed news. Let us hope Beleg or another elf can find us in Melian's mazes", suggested Arthron.

Ariel nodded to the human. "May I ask what your connection to Morgoth is?" she hated to pry but she had to know

"I once had a friend, a gnome, who was captured by Morgoth. He escaped, but not before he had been changed. Not physically, but emotionally and spiritually. The change was horrible", he said, shuddering.
