I am a new member here and bussing writer and i am really interested in the whole Barbie / plastic Blonde look (my username gives it away, right?). I am curious as to why this look fascinates people, what they are attracted to the look and style of a woman with fake boobs, blonde hair, white skinned, slim etc. I think it's symbolic of something, but i'm not entirely sure what. What does it mean to you, what do you think? I am keen to hear what you think because it's something i'm trying to explore in my upcoming stories.

Greetings PlasticBlonde2017,

You raise an interesting point. Honestly I don't know, it's supposed to be an idealised woman I suppose. But it's not one I recognise. I suppose there's a perception of the ideal but I've noticed throughout history that perception is constantly shifting. I personally like my ladies to have a little shape to them, those perceived flaws are to me a signature of genuine beauty and intrigues me.

And besides, growing up I always preferred my sister's Sindy doll, more posable. Umm...so I'm told...

Personally, I don't find the Barbie Doll look very attractive--much less fascinating. The doll is an exaggeration of feminine features to the point of being outlandish. I expect that you could find many published discussions of just what the Barbie Doll look is about.

Doesn't fascinate me. Not sure of available evidence that it fascinates a significant number of others, either.

Gotta echo the sentiment here. My wife collects Barbies and I'm not a fan of their overexaggerated, long limbs and that neck. Curvy redheads or brunettes are more my thing. :)

i read long ago that if you met someone with the proportions of the Barbie Doll that they would look freakish. This

Is the human barbie doll Valeria Lukyanova. The photo is not touched up.

I'll admit that she has some attractive features, but overall she's a freak. This came from a GQ article and interview with her. The author was creeped out.

Not really my cup of tea. One of the reasons I really don't like the stereotypical blond or blonds in general is the fact of they're supposed to be the perfect image of beauty when it comes to societal acceptance and whatnot. I don't understand the ideology of some tall slim woman with blonde hair and blue eyes being perfect in anyway. It's poison of the mind is what it is to continue the nonsense of them being the perfect woman, not to mention the idea of perfection is a damn fallacy. The combined aspects doesn't make her perfect and only attractive to certain people.

Her tits and hieghf are the only thing that appeal to me.

It wouldn't be because "blonds" are men? :D (The female equivalent is "blondes.")

Hm, well some parts make sense. Blonde hair has been popular for centuries, though I'm not sure why. Wide hips and large breasts are usually associate with fertility. Other than that, I think it's more of a stereotype than anything else.

I've known people who liked it. I think it's overblown.

I think the fascination - and yes it exists - is because a female willing to go that far to be appealing, gives the impression that having lots of sex is important to her, and that can work for a lot of men.

It easily goes too far, and I agree with NotWise that the referenced blonde would be pretty if you could find her under all that silicone.

There is an appeal to that look. It's common and successful in American porn; tight body (though not necessarily small), big hair, big boobs, shaved bush. Despite what AH authors might say here, I don't think you'd have a hard time finding a LOT of character in Lit stories that fit that description. I don't think that blond hair is necessarily required. There are a lot of popular brunettes as well.

Those women are performers who shape themselves to satisfy certain fantasies. Why do men fantasize about hug jugs? Maybe it's a mommy thing, I don't know. The other plastic elements are all aimed at feeding someone's fantasy. And of course, those pictures are almost always edited to remove features like pimples or moles that might distract you from your fantasy.

I prefer a different body type and I'm not so much into blondes--or blonds when referring to blond women; from my reading the use of "blonde" is dying out in both the US and UK. The spell checker in LibreOffice doesn't think that "blonde" is a word, and neither does the spell checker here.

Whether or not the look is your cup of tea (it's not my favorite), its appeal isn't hard to understand. It's a look that consists of exaggerated feminine characteristics in combination: exaggerated hourglass figure with large breasts, lush blond hair, perfectly smooth unblemished skin, unusually long legs, soft feminine face with big eyes and big lips. The appeal of the plasticky quality of the look I think owes to its seeming unblemished and flawless.

Also, because the various feminine qualities of a barbie girl are exaggerated, it's a look that lends itself to the side of porn that fetishizes body parts.

I have no idea how popular this look really is, but I imagine there is at least some significant degree of appeal because it is so prevalent in various forms among fetish, pinup, and cosplay models, and in the porn industry, all of which seem to favor boob jobs, thin waists, hairlessness, long legs, and long hair.

Popular enough Hitler thought the whole world should look that way.

Hmmm. I don't think so. Hitler liked fair hair but he didn't want women to be glamorous and skinny. He wanted them to be domestic and practical and home-bound and to bear lots of Nazi children.

I could be wrong but I think the Barbie look is distinctly a product of the post-war era. The first Barbie doll came out in 1959.

Hi, Blondie, and welcome to the Authors' Hangout. That look is not as appealing as you might think. Blondness is alright but not such a big deal. Fair and unblemished skin can be attractive but hers is too pale. A body as skinny as that of the "living Barbie" is almost repulsive. Plastic boobies are a turnoff.

Based on "Bild Lilli", a slightly earlier German toy (but yes, still post-war). Her origins are a bit scandalous; Lilli was not a children's toy.

I have never found Barbie types appealing. I prefer natural women. Actually, I prefer small breasts to large. I like woman with hips. Not to wide, but at least wider than her waist. She should have a shape that isn't defined by her chest.

She has to have pretty eyes. That's the first place I look, is her eyes. Then her face. If those to pass the test, then the rest of her as a whole. But if she has over sized breasts, it kind of a turn off.

In my use of the term barbie, i didn't mean actual barbie doll wannabees but girls who adopt the plastic / fake look. To be it succinctly in pictures, this kind of girl is what i am referring to. http://bestxxxpics.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/heather-rene-smith-big-fake-tits.jpg

Not for me, thanks.

I haven't seen one of those in 40-odd years.
A pity, like. . . .

Not to my taste, her breasts are far too big for me, too artificial.

Empirical sample size - a dozen or so AH random male writers - not much appeal noted here; even a bit of a push for 'natural' body shapes.

Define 'natural' - not what's been shown in this thread, by the looks of things.
