As if national floods and renewed terrorist attempts weren;t enough the new PM has an outbreak of Foot and Mouth to deal with... talk about thrown in the deep end. Spare a thought for all the poor farmers who are probably shitting themselves at losing livestock as well as the arable land affected by the floods.

I rather like the way he dealt with the terrorist attacks.

He didn't run around like a chicken with its head cut off squawking about 'clash of civilizations!' and 'they hate our freedoms!' He said, "They're criminals and will be dealt with like criminals."

Nice change.

Haven't seen how he's dealt with the rest yet, but I'm hopeful.

Still, it's an interesting baptism, isn't it?

Yikes!:( Again? It wasn't that long ago you guys had that really bad outbreak--does this one look as bad? I hope not.

Not sure yet.
They're talking about it on BBC news on TV at the moment.
They seem to have caught it quickly and contained it.

What really worries them is where the hell did it come from??

At least Gordon Brown makes the effort to get off his arse and come back from his holidays straight away. Bizarrely, and I didn;t think this would happen, I have more confidence in Brown than I did in Blair (and believe me, I didn;t think much of Blair).

<shakes head in bemusement>

Oh well, time will tell if that confidence was misplaced.

It probably has something to do with farmers saving a couple of pennies by giving cheap, imported feed to their animals, probably containing the minced up bodies of other fallen animals.

lol, that she would, she tried making one of her cars into a skateboard again this morning so I can see us heading for trouble.

I do have to make sure she doesnt see the news though. With as many dead cows as they were showing we'd never be able to get her to understand what happened. Shes really smart but just to young to get why they killed them, not like I can say this time for hungry people to eat. :(

Brown's leadership is giving me doubts about whom I'd vote for in a snap election. I'm not a fan of New Labour and am of the opinion that the two biggest problems facing Britain are the fucked-up welfare system and mindless integration with a Europe that is nothing more than a morass of bureaucracy, neither of which Labour is inclined to solve.

However, given Cameron's limp-wristed attempts at being assertive and inability to hold a definite opinion (as well as his charge towards the centre ground), I'm not sure I'd vote Conservative right now and Brown's impressing me with his leadership. It's nice to have a Prime Minister who actually feels like he's leading, rather than charging off in his own direction and tugging us behind.
