Many countries around the world ban political or personal speech, flags, symbols, etc, of different things. The most common bannings are things considered "too far right," "full of hate" (as those banning them define it), ""racist"," "neo-nazi," "politically incorrect," etc, though there are many other things banned in different countries, such as Palestinian symbols in Israel, Israeli symbols in many Arab countries, Communist era symbols in Ukraine and some of the former Communist countries, separatist flags in many countries. In Greece it is (or was until recently) illegal to call Macedonia by its name since Greece considers its own province of Macedonia to be the "real Macedonia." The list of bannings goes on and on and is growing exponentially with every passing year even in countries claiming to be "democracies" and "free."
There is no moral justification for these bannings. It is by its very nature tyrannical, and shows that governments throughout the world do not respect their own citizens enough to trust them with the freedom to say what they want or display symbols they want. Instead of banning a swastika flag for example, why not ask why someone would want to display such a flag? Perhaps its just to annoy other people (like Sid Viscious used to do), perhaps there are countless other reasons someone might want to display that or any other symbol. Who really cares? If you don't like it, ignore it, or try to convince them to take it down.
Banning things is what all tyrannies do. Why do modern democratic governments feel the need to behave like dictatorships, what are they trying to protect, their own dictatorial control over the people?
