Um, what? How is making sure an SIP(sic) doesn't slow one service over another a bad thing? What the SIPs(sic) are claiming is companies such as Netflix need to pay them MORE money for access to the SIP(sic) network even though Netflix et al are already paying for that access.

It's effectively an extortion plot. "Sure would be a bad thing if your service got slowed cause ya didn't pay us."

The job of an SIP(sic) is to transmit a signal, just like a phone call, without regard to what is being transmitted. That's it. They are not gatekeepers. They are an access point. Nothing else.
