I've never trusted them. The childhood nightmare I recall most vividly and traumatically involved a moose eating a picture I'd drawn and was very proud of. Woodland creatures are dicks!

I did not know that. I figured they got proteins from incidental ingestion of insects. Not surprised to see them chew on old bones though. Antler sheds are a prime source of nutrients for many small rodents.
