Bad news in Nebraska

No the reactor is in shutdown. There probably aren't any fissionable materials in the chamber, so no worries. And if there are they can be removed quickly enough to prevent a catastrophe.

The big worry would be if the rods were lowered and producing power and the coolant system shutdown and they couldn't get he dampening rods in due to electrical malfunction. But there is a manual backup to the electrical back up, so not worries.

But, then again, they all could just be lazy bastards over there and let the damn thing meltdown just shits and giggles. ;)

Run Forrest, run.

It's ironic that flood water (which is cold), is likely to put a reactor (warm to hot), in peril because the systems for cooling are in danger ?
