(OOC: Need a female to join me in this story. PM me if interrested.)
Jeff Harrison killed the engine of his car. He was dead tired. It was late in the evening and he stopped at the first bed and breakfast place he could find. He took up the map from the glove compartment. He followed the road he had driven with his finger. According to the map he was now in Lakewood, Colorado. Just ten kilometers southwest to Denver. He yawned and opened the car door to exit his old Ford.
He did not know where he was heading. He just drove aimlessly in the direction his nose pointed at. He had no plan. Not anymore anyway. He was a drifter, a loser. Once he was someone important. That he tried to convince himself of anyway. Now he was a nobody. He had no one that would miss him if he died and nobody he cared for. Once he worked for an insurance company in New York. Now he just didn't do much. Except from when he managed to hold on to a job for a short time. Latest one was as a dishwasher on a diner in Duluth, Minnesota.
He entered the bed and breakfast with a yawn. The place was totally deserted except for an elderly woman with a bored expression at the counter. Jeff walks over to her and smiles politely.
"I need a room for the night."
She looks at him and hands him the key without a word.
"Where can i get something to eat?"
"There is a diner just a couple of blocks down the street." Was the answer he got.
Jeff nodded and walks towards the door. The door opens just before he reaches for it. In steps an older man with white long hair. Jeff nods at the man but only get a blank stare in return. Feeling suddenly uneasy Jeff quickens his pace and walks out.
His thoughts are still focused on the strange man as Jeff enter the diner. He reminded about that Doc character from the Back to the future movies. Only a stranger version. Jeff smiles ironically. There was probably nothing wrong with the man at all. Jeff was just tired enough to imagine things.
The diner had a larger clientel than the bed and breakfast and Jeff immediately noticed a tall woman sitting alone at a table close to the door. With a smile he steered his steps towards her. She looks up at him with a questioning smile.
"My name is Jeff. Do you mind if i join you. Company is always nice."
"Sure. Sit down." She says and gestures to the chair opposite to her. Jeff finds out that her name is Rachel and that she also don't live in the town. They enjoy the meal and the company until Rachel stands up and say good bye. Jeff look after her. She must be the most beautiful woman he had seen in years he thought to himself. He would have pleasant dreams this night he reflected as he stood up and payed the bill.
Jeff whistle to himself as he walks back to the bed and breakfast. He find the door to his room and as he searches for the key he hear the faintest voice behind him. "Sorry." Then he feel a sharp pain in the back of his head and all turns black.
