I wash my hands too much. I can't help it, its nerves. Some people drink, some smoke, some swear...I wash my hands. My poor skin is just red. This just bites. I'm going to spend the next three days slathering on thick skin creme to get them back to normal again. I have such beautiful hands too (ok, not right now)...long fingers, nice nails...I think I need a 12-step program.

What's yours?

I chew on my lip and on the inside of my cheek. Even more so now that I'm trying to quit smoking.

When I am nervous or idle too long, I twist a strand of hair over and over again. I've pretty much quit smoking, but like Angel, I tend to chew my lip. If I am really stressed I will have a smoke.

PB,

Here is a trick I learned from a friend--works like a charm. (Don't worry about your handwashing being too much--I have gone through that too--especially when the job was full of VRE or MRSA and the threats that a conversion to VRSA had occurred--these are the extra-powerful-super-bugs for those who are unfamiliar.)

Go about your regular routine and then when you get in bed--JUST before turning out the light, grab the handy container of Vaseline that you are keeping on your headboard for this reason and slather your hands--then put socks on them to keep from getting the stuff all over the place. It doesn't have to be slimey thick, but more like the thickness of lotion when you can't rub it in anymore.

When you wake in the am, your hands will be just like new. In the cases where your hands get a super rough treatment, get a small bottle to keep in your pocket and use that instead of lotions--many lotions end up being drying.

Let me know how this works for you.

Talk and write too much
sometimes interrupt people
worry too much
too open about things

ok these are just SOME of them that I can think of right now.
