Bad Football Day for Laverina

Argh. I went to the Texas/OU game today. I was there last year for the asswhooping of the horns. Today, I watched as the Horns were out-coached.

I mean shit, the score is 3-7. OU is winning. Texas gets the ball on the 1 1/2 yard line and has 2:07 for a final drive. What would be the savy thing to do? Well, you take a safety. OU gets 2 points and you get moved out to the 20. This makes sense right? But no, they ran a play. Chris Sims tried desperately to avoid the safety, so insted he throws the ball and it is intercepted and OU gets a 5 yard TD. How fucking stupid is this?????????? Pretty fucking stupid, I would say.

I don't know. You take the safety and the score goes to 3-9 and you have to kick to OU from the 20 with less than 2 minutes left.
Say they get it on their own 35 yard line. How many time outs did tx have left? If they had all three they might get the ball back on their own 20 with a minute and a half left. But if OU grinds out a first down it's all over.

IF the coach knew the pass would have been intercepted, then of course he'd rather take the safety. But hindsight is 20/20.

If you only score 3 points in 58 minutes, it's hard to expect a miracle in last 2 from your one yard line.

I'm not having that great a day myself. USC blew another one. I may not wactch the Cowboys game tomorrow. Wait a minute, I have 3 games to ref' tomorrow. I couldn't watch it anyway. Besides, If I didn't have to work, I'd be at the game......maybe???

Now for the good news. Paterno's Nittany Lions didn't win. YEAH!!!! I think that's really the only school I don't like. I REALLY DON'T like them. I respect Joe Pat. as a coach. I respect him as a teacher and motivator. However, those damned uniforms are too plain and ugly. BLAHHH!!!!! YUCK!!!!!! How can you support that?? ( Note to all my Pennsylvania friends. I love Pennsylvanians, I just don't like Penn State Football) Phew!!


Ducks win Big !!! Should crack the top 5 next week.

I'm almost scared to submit my NFL picks. ( I did say almost. LOL) Give me time and I'll post on my football thread.

I'm from PA and I Hate PSU. Sorry, no need for the entire state to rally around them, its not for me. I went to a small state school here, and today was Homecoming. Alas, I didn't go as I have to work, but we won, beat a team ranked higher than us nationally (yes, even D-II teams have nat'l rankings), and now its celebration time, as we should move into the Top 5.

kg, I do in fact know a number who enjoy beer. My best friend in school (a gal) was known to drink the Guinness with us and went on beer tasting sessions in Pittsburgh with us. Not to fit in, but because she liked beer. I know more who don't like the taste of beer, but I've also met quite a few afficianados.

As for you sigh....really now babe, let's think about that hot tub incident more carefully shall we...especially after we found out all about you know who??? Besides, my trunks stayed on the entire time.

Sorry, love, but it's hard for me to feel bad for you. Texas has been a dominant force in college FB for a long time. They're bound to get beat some of the time, right?

And, I hate the Cowboys with a virulent passion, so fuck them anyway. In my defense, before I get flamed: I have reasons. 1) My old Pittsburgh-born roommate was a huge Steelers fan, and still hated the Cowboys because of the late 70's. 2) The fucking cheerleaders irritate the crap out of me. 3) I had to watch them beat the bejesus out of the Cardinals for years while I lived in AZ. 4) They're in Dallas, for fuckssake.

If nothing else, next year you'll have the Houston Texans. (Since they're in Houston, which doesn't suck out loud, I'll try to be kind to them. No promises.)

I hate the cowboys, but I wont talk bad about the cheerleaders. When I was in the navy and floating around in the Indian Ocean for 128 consecutive days, they did come out to visit us. One of the sailors inappropriately grabbed one of the girls, not sure really what happened, I guess he goosed her ass, and he was off the ship on a helicopter that same day. I imagine he's still locked away in a military prison somewhere.

Dallas Cowboys

i hate to admit it but the Cowboys have sucked big time for a few years now.
i have always been a Cowboy fan from the days of Tony Dorsett.
Troy should have retired moons ago.
the team should have been trying to rebuild long long ago. i think it is a shame that they have deteriorated to become a laughing stock instead of the football force they deserve to be.
though the team sucks, i still remain a fan in my now, quiet way.

one final noteabout the cheerleaders...they have better tight ends and better movement in the backfield than the team could ever try.

Actually you would have to kick off from the twenty, to the other team. OU would have had the ball with two minutes left. I think most coaches would have taken there chances at the five.

I never understood why they benched Applewhite though, so you still have something to complain about.
