Background Checks

Does anyone know how I can get a background check on someone? I really don't want to spend any money, as it isn't of THAT big of a concern to me...Or maybe one of my friends in PA can help me do some digging.

Sammyjo, the only way I know is to hire a private detective (not cheap), or use one of the people finder search sites on the internet. Again, not cheap. And the legality of private citizens doing background checks varies from state to state. You can find out the local laws by contacting your state's Secretary of State.

Depends on how much detail you want. I checked someone out using a site called know.x You select the type of public information you want, and it will search for you giving you the option to pay for more detail if anything is found. I spent about $25 and was happy with the info I got. You can't get credit reports, however, as I believe that is illegal without a reason and permission from the person you are doing the check on. But I'm not sure, maybe one of the LIT lawyers could help.
