I suppose I am excited. I am. It's kind of like New Year's day, but instead of lying around watching football, I'll be doodling in my journal while some great mind drones on and on about accountability and forms and character.

Questions: Will the boss again trample the constitution by making us listen to her pray before our meeting begins?

And what will she say about the smiling Buddah on my desk in the absence of any Christian symbols?

I believe in the flag. I believe in the flag.

I can't wait to meet my new students on Monday when we can start doing education! :)

Your pricipal prays at the start of faculty meetings? That is...wow, I don't know what that is. Scary I guess.

I love the start of school. in two months I'll have at least 4 new kids in my after school group!!!

New faces, new personalities, new minds that boggle my own!

I'm a teacher also - my principal doesn't pray (though he may carry a gun - tough school!)

We report next week - let the games begin!!

In my performance evaluation conference she quoted scripture to me and told me what a good christian man I am.

LOL

Answer your question?

"All right goddamnit I believe in the fucking flag, let's get on with it!"

HAHAHAHA

Oh, my. Wonder what she would say about the Elvis-clad Stitch on a surfboard (from Lilo and Stitch) that's going to go on my computer next week? Hmmmmmm.

Goodnight. Gotta wake up early and sharpen my color pencils. :)

Wow. Do you live in the midwest? I think my step kids go to your school.

I could send you a poster of Jesus waiving the flag! My mother-in-law sent it to me and I've yet to decide whether to burn it or use it as a dart board. And I like Jesus. But the poster makes me angry.

Why isn't he smiling? All good Blockbuster employees should smile.

I'll have a student doctor it up for me.

:)

I really wish I would have had a teacher like you while I was growing up. You give so much to your students.

Hope this coming school year is just fucking wonderful for you, riffilicious.

Thanks JL. The ultimate compliment to me is the number of them that stay in contact with me after they leave.

Well, that, and steadily rising test scores.

I always look forward to the start of the new school year, too.

The girls wear hardly any clothes to class in August in Louisiana.

Repeat after me you two,

Mathmatics is the language of Science...

Have a great year. Teach well!

Thanks.

But allow me to amend your mantra to make it my own.

"Mathmatics is A language of science."

All right. Here we go. I don't know how many days left, but I am sure I will hear one of my older colleagues say "1 down and ____ to go."

Time for me to start polishing up the old resume. This is year number 5. By the time it is over, it will be time. I feel it in my bones.

Actually, in my neurons, but you know what I mean.

THE

...everything else is politics!

Now I know why your boss prays!

:p

:D

I remember being excited for school to start when I was a student. It is kind of fun to see that the teachers get excited, too! A glimpse into the other side, in other words. Cool.

You mean like the Buddy Christ? Nope. This is not a kinder gentler Jesus.

I felt that way until today. I'm going to fall in love with my class on Monday morning, i know i will, i always do. They walk in and i'm lost.

Unless something changes drastically in the next week, my heart is going to be broken into pieces next Friday. We don't have enough students to keep all the Kindergarten classes open, and i'm the newest teacher. In all likelihood, i'll be moving to 2nd grade.
