Three weeks left.

The nursery is ready, we have a drawer full of sleep suits, tinsiest shoes imaginable, I'm half way through putting a toy box together etc etc

But still no name.

Any ideas?

^^^^^^^getting excited! ^^^^^^^^^

Boy or girl? Or is it a surprise?

(btw...good to see you back!)

Bobo.

Baby no 1 was known as 'bobo' untill he was born.

Hi Cloudy :)

I don't know! Ahhh!

I hope it's a boy, so I can teach him football, but then if it's a girl she may have more chance of becoming pro, but then maybe it's wrong to put expectant pressure on a child . ..

>>Bobo<< better than lumpin, that's mine at the mo!

I met a toddler named (for no apparent reason) Siddharta today.

I'd recommend something a little less, um, odd. :)

Hindu God isit?

Perhaps Sid.

For a boy:
Dubhlainn means "black blade"
Gavin means "white Hawk"
Riley means "brave"

For a girl:
Adrienne means "artful"
Lucy (and all variations thereof) means "light"
Niamh (pronounced "Nev")

Gender neutral:

Aislinn means "beautiful"
Lynn
Lee
Haley
Conner
Keelan

I have over 100 baby name books left over from my shop.

I can look any suggested name up in those books and no they don't all agree on meanings for the same name.

One hint: Never give a child names where the initials make a word or could be misinterpreted e.g. initials R C = Roman Catholic but pronounced sound like arse-y.

There is a young kid on my street stuck with Hitler.

HAHAHAHA!

I'm currently pen name "shopping" and have been looking through websites and threads on here. A thread you may want to look through is right here.

So ideas:

Girl
Devin
Malloren (a character in my Nano story, fell in love with the name)
Sayuri (character in Memoirs of a Geisha, beautiful name)

Boy
Padriac
Conor (or Conner, Connor, however)

Haha. I like names with a bit of flair to them...
I was only thinking of the kids. Unless you're a rock star, of course, in which case it's de rigeur. Actually "De Rigeur" is quite a nice boy's name.

Congrats!

I'll give you a list of boy names I like but can't name my son who will be born next March.

Aiden
Mathias
Reese
Justin
Trent
James
Caden
Christian
Jude
Valin
Ezra
Simon
Dylan
Kash
Shand
Darrion
Anikin
Trent
Jaxon
Kade
Colin
Jayden

I can't use them since I put them in my porn stories. Just doesn't seem right since I've been that intimate with them. Yanno? ;)

Presumably named after the character from the book by Herman Hesse. It's generally considered to be the Indian Cather in the Rye. It's good, and a quick read.

Man, names are so subjective. There are some names in this thread I love, and some I loathe. Out of politeness I won't say which is which. I will say I generally favor names that most people will know how to spell when they hear them. (Clearly this isn't always possible with ethnic names, but I've known enough people with "unique" names that got really tired of telling people how to spell them).

Okay, I'm going to let you know the names I have picked out - I don't tell many people as I have had a few that I like been used by people in my life!
Desiree - means "much wanted"
Tarquin - not sure what it means

I also like Pax, meaning peace.
Best of luck, I hope it all goes well.

There's a whole thread of baby names that folk came up with for Sam and Nirvana's baby--alas, I can't seem to find the thread. If someone else could do the search?

Tons and tons of names...some practical, some not, some silly, some beautiful. Both boy names and girl.

Enjoy!

Oooh, I love Paz, which is the same name in Spanish, a la the actress Paz Vega. Doesn't hurt that she's hot.

I like Luz too. If I had a girl and named her Lucy I would call her my Little Luz all the time. Lucia is pretty too.

whoa

naming a baby is huge. it's what they'll be called to from birth to death and after. no suggestions because everyone's tastes are different. but give it alot of thought and as long as it means something to you and comes from the heart, that's what matters. :)
