lucky, lucky baby to be found when she was!

the one thing i have a problem with is the discussion taking place about 'what could make the mother do this?'

it may not have been the mother that took the newborn and tied her in a bag. it may well have been, but they need to consider it could be the baby of a teenager (for example) whose own parent (male or female) took the child away as unwanted, an embarrassment to the family; it could be the father of the baby, maybe someone who believes the mother was unfaithful or he already has too many kids to feed; it could be a baby produced by someone kept prisoner and forced to have sex with their abductor... and it might be they who then went on to dispose of the infant. there are many, many possibilities.

of course it might simply be the mother, for a whole host of reasons. maybe a very young one who'd not let on she was pregnant. maybe just an evil bitch who had no regard for the baby. maybe a mentally ill person not knowing how to cope.

one thing you can be sure of, though; with the anti-abortion bills passed, there're going to be a lot more abandoned babies.

Maybe you should start a Rescue Shelter for abandoned babies.

Keep it on the downlow and away from the revenuers and you could probably get 10-20K cash per baby.

it doesn't matter, you'd not be a good troll and i always have the ignore option which i use now and again for you

how is the thread topic "funny"?

and if you find anything lace says funny, then bless your heart

I'm at a loss to say which of Butt's 2 kinds of posts I prefer:

1. Posts about her massive, ongoing food consumption;

2. Posts about things she read on CNN.

Both qualify as BREAKING NEWS, so it's hard to pick.

States that deny choice should automatically be on the hook for all costs of lifetime care, room and board of the result.

Or maybe they could do something like offer the babies for adoption.

Gosh, the video.

Leaving aside the horror/emotional rescue part: it's such a bizarre case.
I've heard of either infanticide or the milder side of the spectrum (newborns left on doorsteps). But not this.

I'm inclined to believe that it was a mother who wasn't in a normal state of mind, probably teenager.
Because it shows a lot of ambivalence about the baby, and lack of forethought about covering her own tracks.

the video is very moving

if the family hadn't returned from being on a break, and if they'd not come back out to finish unloading their vehicle, the baby would likely never have been heard and so would have died.

if it was the mother who did this, the baby being only maybe an hour old, it was highly likely they weren't in any kind of 'normal' frame of mind.

If, if, if, if.

If Butters was a good mother, she’d have her children with her, like Harry’s mom.

Every state has safe haven laws. Leaving a baby to die is pointless and there is no good excuse. Find 'em and leave 'em in a bag in a landfill.

Is it normal for a newborn to have that much hair? Among some ethnicities it is, but this baby doesn't seem to be one of them.

Fake Baby. Slow news day in The South, must have been a National Uncles Meeting in Texas.

Not jumping to conclusions

No doubt we can all agree that, whatever the story behind this story, it is something tragic. I just wanted to voice appreciation for the original post for pointing out that blaming the mother is absurd. We don't know the facts.
That sort of race-to-judgement or pre-judgement is at the core of a lot of social madness. So, thank you for pointing out that there are many potential stories behind this story. I am so sick of fake news that takes a tidbit of information and then beats on a drum making wild claims about something when there are no real facts to back it up.

As a side point: Anti-abortion laws will not stop abortion any more than anti-drug laws stop drugs. Also, unwanted babies don't need to be disposed of just because abortion might be illegal. There are legal provisions for unwanted babies other than dumpsters. Whoever dumped the baby is disgusting. The number of disgusting people on earth will not go up or down because of laws.

I wouldn't call it "tragic" since it seems the baby survived and is doing alright. I would, however, call it infuriating that this epitome of innocence was treated in such a manner.

OJ that is just the first phase of what jaF0 is talking about.

Wouldn't you adopt a child by way of your taxes to save a life? Isn't that a small price to pay to prevent a murder of an innocent?

I don't really care what the State does after they collect upon delivery as long as they foot the entire bill.

The federal gov. does that now, indirectly. Adoptive parents can get a tax credit for the expenses involved.

Whatever, just make sure no women and especially the mother aren't held responsible at all....if anyone is to pay make sure it's one of those horrible males as this is surely their fault.

I thought the baby looked pretty good.

The bag kept it dry and warm.

People who hate on plastic recycling are bad.

Oh, of course. Especially one of those white males. They are the worst - truly an abomination.

the updated reports have the police saying someone must know a woman or girl who was very pregnant and now isn't but no evidence of a baby, which may be true in most cases

but

when i was a kid living at home with my parents, i had a girl neighbour i knew fairly well and who lived only 6 doors away (and that was less than 100yards across our back gardens as it was in a block). we didn't attend the same school but i was probably about 10 and she was maybe 12... well it wasn't till she went into labour in her parents' house that they even knew she was pregnant! they thought she'd been putting on a bit of weight and just being a 'typical teenager' by appearing moody, wearing baggy, ugly clothes, spending a lot of time in the bathroom. in other words, she hid it. i didn't really see her to speak to after that, i think they sent her away to live with relatives for whatever reason. no idea what happened to the baby.

and then there are young women, even older ones, who don't even know they're pregnant themselves till they go into labour!
