This is a closed thread for me and meangrrl
I couldn't believe how easily she pulled this whole trip off. Yesterday we were informed of how I needed to fly immediately to New York to meet with a client, and I'd be allowed to take one additional person with me whomever that was. At first I thought of my wife, but then realized there would be no way either of us would even see each other. This was going to be a very quick trip, just a weekend to settle down the client and then come back.
I had to admit I was a little nervous giving this task to my new secretary, but she came through in the clutch and that night we were on the next flight to New York. I figured she would be a bigger help to me than any of the other team members. She'd proven herself very helpful in the past, and the last thing I needed was to be debating how to handle the client with anyone. This way I could rely on her, and know she'd be on my side.
She seemed very happy when I told her she'd be the one coming to New York with me. She told me she'd never been away on a business trip before. I told her not to get her hopes up, that there wouldn't be too much time for fun and games.
We landed in New York and caught a cab to the hotel. It was a beautiful looking building, I wondered how she had managed something like this. I sat down in the lobby while she took care of checking us in.
She waved me over to let me know we had gotten our rooms. I grabbed my bags and met her at the elevator. As we got on I told her how great of a job she'd done pulling this together for me and how I really appreciated her hard work since I'd hired her. She looked at me and told me not to be too impressed yet. I looked at her questioningly, wondering what she could possibly mean. That's when she told me we'd be sharing a room.
